Big tech spent thirty years developing ways to track and target people and we were like "well yeah that's why email is free, don't worry it's just marketing"

I love Christopher Guest movies and by their design they were always only as good as the comedic actors involved and it’s one of the absolute purest ways to see just how much people like Catherine O’Hara and Fred Willard brought to the job. It sucks to lose them but it’s also just magic to see them

Meme. Scene from the Bayeux Tapestry showing Harold pulling two Norman soldiers from the river. Beneath are 2 fish, seven eels, and a man with a seax reaching for an eel, grabbing it by the tail. Above, in latin, is a description of the scene.

The latin text does not have a break between "de" & "arena" (trans: from the sand) so it looks, instead, like it might read "Dear Ena." That would be a different story.

Behind Harold is a pileup of men and horses, with one of the horses pitching head-first into the river. The eels are surely looking forward to a meal of Normans and horses, but they are going to be partially thwarted by Harold. They'll have to make do with just the horses.

There are no penises in this part of the tapestry, so if that's what you were here for, you can move on.

Meme text reads:
"Borne on the Bayeux"

The Bayeux Tapestry is cool as hell. A 230 foot-long textile account of the Norman Conquest from the 11th C., with lots of fun details, including 626 people, 190 horses, 35 dogs, 32 ships, & 93 penises.

"Are there eels?" you ask. Of course there are eels! Let's take a look! 1/8

We could've had a cyberdeck, mantis blades, and a thermal katana. We could've been discussing the finer points of our "ghosts" in VR space. We could've been zeroing Corpo scum or dodging Netwatch and daemons from beyond the Blackwall.

But no, we're stuck with this fucking shit.

Many years ago, I was on the BART, commuting and reading Porno, by Irvine Welsh, a sequel to Trainspotting in which the lads try to break into the porn business. It was amusing and I was chuckling to myself when I felt that someone was staring at me. Looked up, It was Irvine Welsh, smiling.

FRED: You know who really fuckin sucks? My uncle, Ebenezer Scrooge.

FRED'S WIFE: Oh man, fuck that guy, I hope his dick falls into a mud puddle.

SCROOGE: This is what they say about me when I'm out of sight?

GHOST OF XMAS PAST: Well...

FRED: We can totally see you. Get out my house.
