I used to think flipbooks were both too much extra work and also 'inferior', i suppose, to what you could do with a displacement map. But actually they can be really fast to make and often even a single extra frame can make the motion really stylish and you can have really precise control.

Making actual hit animations for the first time in my life. Usually I just blend in and out of a single hit frame.

Man it really is the finale of this season's ultraman.
If they actually have the ultraman merge with a human host in end I'm gonna lose it.
The writers taking an episode 1 trope and instead turning into a plot point for the final episode would be absolutely fire.
