THROUGH THE YEARS: After more than 60 years of debate, removing through traffic from Richmond Park's roads is now an achievable goal.

The text for this video was taken from a past edition of our free monthly email bulletin. Support our work by subscribing - see link in bio. And thanks for watching!

HEROES FOUND: The two cyclists who fetched a defbrillator for a stricken pedestrian have come forward on Instagram. We’ve passed the details to our subscriber who administered CPR. Thank you to everyone who spread the word!

This morning whilst doing ballet laps I witnessed a walker stagger then fall face first onto the floor outside the ballet school. Whilst on the phone to 999 and doing chest compressions, a passing runner and I were desperately trying to find someone who could fetch a defibrillator.

Eventually a pair of cyclists did just that, retrieving one I believe from one of the cafes. After applying the defib it analysed his heart rhythm and the gentleman did indeed require a shock which once delivered seemed to revive him somewhat. There were a number of runners who also helped with chest compressions thereafter.

Once the paramedics arrived they delivered another shock and took over care.

There was a moment whilst doing compressions when the ambulance had not yet arrived and there was no defib where it looked like this man was dying beneath me. I do not know if he has survived but the paramedics said that we probably saved his life.

I am writing only to see if there is anyway to identify the two cyclists who retrieved the defib. If this man (he managed to tell me his name was β€œMike” before becoming unresponsive) survives, it will largely be down to these two good Samaritans.

HUNT FOR HEROES: Help us find two cyclists who came to the aid of a man after he collapsed in the park on Sunday morning.

Kush Gor, who is one of our subscribers, stopped to help. Please read his account ⬇️ and contact us if you know the two mystery men so we can pass on their details. Thanks!

GROUP TOGETHER: Last month, we joined three rides around Richmond Park in one week.

The park hosts many rides throughout the year, and we have a list of some of them on our FAQs page. See link in bio.

And if you run a group ride yourself and want to be added to the list, just send us a DM.

WIGGO WAY BACK: Sir Bradley Wiggins rode through Richmond Park during the 2012 Olympic road race - and today the TdF champ returned for a couple of laps. Thanks to The Clubhouse Putney and Pedal Mafia for organising, and to Brad for making many cyclists happy on this fab ride!

He had a camera crew in tow (as well as a GoPro attached to his helmet) and the footage has now been edited into short promotional films for Lloyds Bank, which will be shown around the ad breaks during the Welsh wonderman’s valedictory event, the Tour of Britain.

TOUR DE FANS: Having arrived unannounced, Geraint Thomas seemed to have a lovely time chatting to fans who were amazed to see him riding alongside them in Richmond Park and the surrounding area one Friday afternoon last month.

They were travelling at around 20mph.

Despite the dramatic scenes as the fire brigade cut the roof off the car, there were no life-changing or life-threatening injuries. (2/2)

TREE-MENDOUS EFFORT: The oak that collapsed outside Kingston Gate yesterday was cleared up pretty quickly!

Everything is back to normal now.

But thank you to the tree for getting rid of through traffic from Kingston Gate to Ham Cross for a few glorious hours. Nature is our friend. 🌳🌿

PEN PALS: Come to Pen Ponds car park today (Sat 24th) from 10am to 12pm to register your bike on the National Cycle Database!

πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈGetting your bike marked makes it less attractive to thieves and increases the chances of getting it back if it is stolen and recovered by police.

SHARING IS CARING: There’s new signage on the Quietway to remind everyone that it’s a shared space.

Watch your speed on the path. Give way to children, walkers and learner cyclists who frequent this mostly car-free area.

Thank you to The Royal Parks for these helpful signs.

Please note that, contrary to recent rumours circulating on a number of WhatsApp groups, there have been no reported bike thefts by these gangs.

The RPTTs are inclusive events - anyone with a just basic road bike can take part. They are incredibly popular with all sections of the cycling community, pose no harm to anyone, and we will continue to make the case that the events should be reinstated next year.

London Dynamo, which has been running the RPTTs for 15 years, does a risk assessment for the events in conjunction with Cycling Time Trials, and there have never been any serious safety-related incidents to our knowledge.

Richmond Park Cyclists learned of TRP’s intentions a month ago and we attempted to get them to change their decision.

Park manager Paul Richards wrote to us: β€œThe cyclist involved in the fatal cycling crash was carrying out a time trial/speed laps. This has brought this activity to people’s attention.”

He added that TRP β€œrequired a pause to evaluate our position aligned across all [our] parks.”
