I’m gonna go ahead and guess he’s in the unreleased files. He turned on a dime years ago and seems a little more frenetic now.

I think that requires McCain have prescience for future events that is only clear in hindsight. What was going on at the time of his death compared to now is a universe apart.

Sure, but people really weren’t paying attention, that moment was everywhere and is undeniable admission of sexual assault.

The Billy Bush tape of him bragging about grabbing women’s crotches and kissing them without consent dropped before the 2016 election. They don’t get a brainwashing pass.

It seems the fundamental difference between us is I believe in the goodness of people and you have disdain for them. Oh. I also like facts and you barter in in opinion.

I don’t know where you’re getting your news, but there were protests in small communities all across the nation. Please stop spreading misinformation.

Ug. That was an unfortunate autocorrect and I’ll delete because voting DOES matter.

That dude posted multiple false claims AND is peddling disdain and hopelessness. I won’t tone it down with accounts like that because his posts align perfectly with what the people in power want the public to believe.

The one in my city had a ton of groups helping get people connected to various organizations. I think the strength of disseminated grass roots movement will make it hard to combat, very much like the large scale, civil rights movement. They killed MLK and Malcolm X, but couldn’t stop the movement.

While reading Book and Dagger about the history of librarians and professors spies in WWII, I realized there were professional things I could do as well. I altered my informed consent to teach patients to ask how providers are documenting info before deciding how to answer sensitive questions.

For a while now, I regularly drop a copy of On Tyranny in little free libraries on walks. It’s little, but they’re always gone when I check back. Volunteer online tutoring for kids who are too afraid to go to school is also an option.

I love me some 90s tunes, but that’s more than three decades ago and we’ve got significantly more relevant music options that aren’t shaming citizens fighting for rights. Idk. Maybe look up Jesse Welles. Mon Rovia. The Neighborhood Kids. The singing protests of Minneapolis (which have spread).

I cannot wrap my head around how out of touch you are with what is happening in grassroots organizations across the nation. I don’t know if you are a real account or if you are just sewing seeds of hopelessness, but the current powers that be would definitely like your messaging.

My doctorate covers human behavior, and the things you are saying are not grounded in research. Just because you toss in a term like Dunning Kruger does not mean what you are saying is accurate. It strikes me that you are opinionated but obviously not volunteering in the US right now.

No Kings was something everybody could agree upon. In my state, it was embraced by urban areas with huge protests, but also across our rural communities that tend to be conservative. Huge turnouts for the size of the towns. Plus, it helped people get connected with other ways to be involved.

I suspect based on your response that you haven’t plugged into your local community. Where I live, I have not seen mutual aid and volunteer groups this active ever. Postcard writing and whistle/zine events at pubs. Neighborhood meetings about keeping neighbors safe. And more. Join or form a group.

I don’t know where you are pulling your numbers from, but they are wildly inflated. Almost every country that has successfully overcome problematic governments has done so with 3.5% protesting. The suggested amount even critics of 3.5% research suggests it only needs to be 5%.

A chart by pew research center from 2022 showing voter age population turnout and registered voter turnout rates for a variety of countries. the United States is highlighted with a 62.8% voter age population turnout, which is similar to a variety of European countries, including the UK. It also shows a registered voter turn out of 94.1%, which is second to only Uruguay.

Research is very clear that the Overton window does change with things like social media. Also. The vote numbers are not nearly as bad as you claim when compared to other countries, and with how hard you’re going on this, it makes me think you have listened to social media instead of facts.

Absolutely. I’ve also started calling people I normally disagree with when they do things I like because I understand the power of positive reinforcement in long-term behavior change. Plus, it’s nice to say something positive For example, I thanked Thom Tillis for his comments to Kristi Noem.

I wish humans could just treat each other respectfully in the first place. There are so many layers of people behaving poorly in this particular scenario, and my heart breaks for the everyday citizen.

The numbers are not nearly as horrific when you account for who cannot vote because of past legal troubles and who doesn’t vote despite wanting to because they can’t get to the polls. Disenfranchisement has been actively pursued by the GOP for decades but all is not lost.

Helping people feel empowered instead of peddling hopelessness about voting, for starters. Momentum is contagious in both directions.

He certainly treated the seven deadly sins as a checklist: pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. The only commandment I wonder about is the first because I’m not sure he believes in any God.
