I finally watched the finale of #CallTheMidwife last night and was in absolute floods of tears. Of *course* it's unrealistic that Sister Julien and Sister Monica Joan didn't age with the passing decades but surely it was clear to everyone that they were immortal souls.

right? I'm blaming climate change. (I know it was a mosquito because I'm mildly allergic; the swelling from a mozzie bite is unmistakeable compared to a midge or similar)

I think that's a pretty common experience in buying yarn scales. Often there are distinctive leaves on the packaging

you've given it three chances and you've learned from the time you've invested - it sounds like time to frog it and reclaim the yarn for another project.

Dr Beckmann's stain remover for carpets and rugs - they do a pet specific one now too but that's new enough that we haven't run down the last bottle of stain remover yet! Definitely an enzyme based cleaner for accidents or stroppy spraying.

they are fabulous colours but with that particular construction might work together better in stripes?

I don't think the silk is the issue - zooming in it looks like your yarns are single ply, and I'd be a lot more worried about that in colourwork. Plied gives it more body and more bounce and more grab unless you've got a *really* toothy single ply.
