The Aris Quartet played Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Brahms with vim and vigor at Herbst in San Francisco today.
Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale sounded jaunty in Händel and Rameau this evening.
The 2026-27 season at @sfopera.bsky.social includes Simon Boccanegra, Thea Musgrave’s Mary, Queen of Scots, Manon, The Marriage of Figaro, Das Rheingold, and Tosca.
Edward Gardner conducted SF Symphony in The Planets this evening. There was much bombast but also ethereal moments.
The world premiere of The Monkey King at @sfopera sure was fun. Definitely a spectacular piece of theater.
@sfopera will revive Zambello’s Ring Cycle in 2028. Eun Sun Kim conducts, Brian Mulligan is to sing Wotan, Tamara Wilson is Brünnhilde, and Simon O’Neill is Siegfried.

The orchestra sounded clear and beautiful in the final dress rehearsal of @sfopera.bsky.social ‘s Parsifal. Some great singing from Brian Mulligan as Amfortas and Brandon Jovanovich in the title role.
