Great to be at @locality.org.uk' roundtable in Parliament on putting community anchor orgs at the heart of national policy.

Heard from Afzal, CEO of @wittonlodge.bsky.social, a brilliant anchor in my constituency.

If we’re serious about devolution, we have to be serious about partnerships.

Another great coffee morning, this time in Gravelly Hill. β˜•

Great to hear from local people about the issues that matter to them, from the high street and housing to crime. Casework picked up and local priorities noted.

Thanks to everyone who joined me and Cllr Mick Brown.

Spoke at the Future of Palliative Care debate, highlighting challenges facing hospices like John Taylor in Erdington.

The truth is, relying on donations is unsustainable. We need a real strategy so everyone can live, and die, with dignity.

Local councillors are the bedrock of our communities, local voices tackling local issues.

Waseem Zaffar was one of the best, a tireless advocate for constituents, taken far too soon. A huge loss to Birmingham.

I called for a debate to honour the work of councillors like Waseem.

Attended the APPG on Media & Public Interest News Foundation drop-in event exploring the state of local news provision across the UK.

With 4.4 million people living in news deserts, it was eye-opening to see the data on where local journalism is thriving, and where it's vanishing.

Dropped into the @neunion.bsky.social’s #BigTechsLittleVictims campaign in Parliament to show my support.

Their experiment showed a 13-year-old’s feed being steered toward harmful, sexualised and extreme content.

The government is consulting on wider measures to keep children safe online.

Joined @endometriosisuk.bsky.social in Parliament to support their #EndometriosisActionMonth.

The new statistics are alarming. The average diagnosis time has now risen to 9 years & 4 months, up from 8 years in 2020.

There is an urgent need to reduce diagnosis times to under 1 year by 2030.

Britain must always put its people first - no one, not even Trump, should tell us otherwise.

The Prime Minister is right to stand up to Trump and defend our citizens and our interests.

This morning on @jeremyvine.bsky.social I talked about how important it is to learn the lessons of Iraq.

The Prime Minister is right not to be dragged into another war, and to stand up to Trump’s pressure on the Middle East.

Yesterday at the the APPG on Less Survivable Cancers session, we focused on improving timely access to treatment.

We heard from professionals and examined how commitments in the National Cancer Plan can be delivered.

Faster diagnosis and treatment for less survivable cancers must be a priority.

Joined Kids & Enemy Of Boredom Academy at a drop-in to hear directly from children and young people with SEND about their lived experiences, and their ideas and solutions for real reform.

Their clarity on what must change should drive the reform we push for in Parliament.

Pleasure to join @grbhamchambers.bsky.social alongside @liambyrnemp.bsky.social, Al Carns MP & Raj Kandola.

Great discussion on the policy priorities needed to drive economic growth across the West Midlands and also valuable to hear directly from local businesses about the challenges they face.

At the @commonshealth.bsky.social inquiry, I drew on 25 years as a nurse. It's shocking that despite decades on the frontline, guidance for health professionals on obesity & weight management still seems so lacking.

This must change - right across the health service.

At the @commonshealth.bsky.social inquiry (audio only) on food & weight management, I asked Dr Munro Stewart of @rcgp, if doctors are seeing obese patients daily, why isn’t this being treated as a priority?

Quality care must include real support for those struggling with weight management.

Incredibly inspired by my visit to β€˜Girls for a Change’ at the 610 Birmingham settlement in Kingstanding. The commitment from the staff to empower young girls is outstanding.

It's exactly this kind of grassroots energy that brings the Kingstanding Pride and Place vision to life.

Spent some valuable time with the wonderful Revd Emma Sykes, vicar of St Barnabas Church in Erdington, hearing about the inspiring community projects taking shape.

With her move in April, it’s clear her heart has always been, and will always be, with the people she serves. πŸ™πŸΏ
