And also let me tell you: they do care when every social media post they put up gets absolutely roasted. The number one fan group they care about: season ticket holders and box owners. Send a message to your account rep and saying what you think and that may as well be a direct line to management.
Not because suddenly those players discovered morality, or the owners are the good billionaires that realized their players did something wrong. Because those revenue numbers shrinking and newer fans abandoning then out of disgust will make them. So keep it up, stop watching, don't buy anything.
Those huge contracts every one of those dumbasses signed and all the new money pouring into the owner's pockets is from new fans, not existing ones. Again, mostly women. Viewership is already way down this year, the widespread negative reaction is going to hurt them a lot.
A big deal about the Team USA hockey clusterfuck is that it is resonating strongly with female fans as a reason to stop watching and interacting with the NHL. The NHL long ago captured all the white men they're gonna get to the sport, the huge growth they've seen recently is women and non whites.

These guys are ignorant politically at best, their interviews show most of them are still teenagers with a lot of money and largely very wealthy families behind them that often lean heavily to the right. This is what happens when pro hockey becomes a walled garden around wealth.
Think it's an important part of the conversation about why there's so many maga hockey players is that the sport has consistently pushed middle to low income players out of the pro pipeline. It's not shocking these guys have those beliefs when they come from very privileged backgrounds.
I hope the Bruins never put a C on McAvoy's chest after this fiasco, and put it where it belongs on Pastrnak. But I know who runs the Bruins and how they frequently disappoint. The same guys who thought Mitchell Miller was a good signing aren't gonna be upset at this.
