Yeah. I’m not going to pretend I can armchair QB a criminal defense in 30 seconds of thought. It just struck me as odd that you would only have a single defense witness as the client in a case like this.

A fundamentally different duty than parents. They have the Bayesian problem that it’s not about any given individual, but about the combined risk of student. A parent who is not a professional risk manager and has a person of one they are responsible for.
I think you’re correct that you’re not going to find a routine expert to this effect. The market for professional experts is always going to be prosecution, plaintiff’s attorney and risk management focused.
But I think you could find someone, and I would argue that schools or governments have

I’m not sure that ultimately changes the verdict, but defendants deserve a good defense.
That while school shootings are highly covered events, they as an absolute number are small compared to the number of children attending school in the United States and even small compared to number of children suffering from mental health disorders.
Hard to say specifically what I would have done without being there, but I would be looking for a child psychologist who would testify that it is impossible for even trained professionals to predict which children are a high risk of engaging in school shootings, and probably an expert to testify
I’m frankly a little surprised that the defense called the father as the only witness.

I was a little winded yesterday playing lacrosse with my son. I might need to work myself into drag/wrestling shape.

It’s free for the taking if not. The only thing I like about drag is the names. I like karaoke, but I wouldn’t want to limit myself to just homoerotic songs. And I don’t want to tell jokes in between songs.

And that doesn’t mean you have to abandon the policy you think is correct. You can and should advocate for policy you think is correct. Just don’t delude yourself into thinking that policy is going to be an electoral magic bullet.
I know it is very tempting to think “if candidate had only done X” which lines neatly up with my personal policy preference “then they’d have won.” That’s rarely going to be the case. And if you don’t critically evaluate that, you will continue to teach yourself the wrong electoral lessons.
2024 was not like 2016 where it was close enough that you could point to any given thing as a potential but-for cause. Trump won because Biden voters switched to Trump. And he won by a margin way higher than pro-Palestine voters not voting or flipping to Trump.

Harris did not lose because of her or Biden’s Palestine Policy. Even young voters ranked it as the second least important issue. Harris lost because Biden was unpopular on basically every front and she didn’t have enough time to separate herself from that.

Do we know what the weapons systems are for these anti-ship missiles? Launching a drone can be done from anywhere and do not need a fixed location. But even anti-ship missiles launched from land vehicles would be easier to track down and degrade than drones.
