The coolest thing Iβve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.
This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

Muskβs status as a βspecial government employeeβ limits him to 130 days in the executive branch. However, despite working dailyβdocumented by his own X postsβthey claim he only works one day a week, effectively stretching his limit to 130 weeks. This needs to be brought to Congressβplease share.

One of the interesting things about DOGE live publishing things to their website is that, being a website, it can be scraped.
This means that it can serve as an early warning system, allowing for folks to quickly identify areas impacted and allow for those with knowledge to provide insight.
For disease outbreaks, HealthMap does a good job scraping web data including ProMED-mail, news headlines, user reports, etc. HealthMap.org

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.
18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.
We made this website to tell our story:

HealthMap is great and one of its data sources is my favorite: ProMED-mail. Read about both here: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
