Another painting of parrot tulips, this time a pastel. These are in a favourite vintage glass jug which is a bit wonky and I like that. This was framed and sold and I think I probably pastelled out the white blank area top right

A drawing of some books on several shelves with objects arranged in front. The objects included some flowers in vases, a reclining giraffe money box, a giraffe ornament, a mug and a zebra doorstop.
Some books for #WorldBookDay. Along with some giraffes & some flowers.
What I love about books is that only are they good to read (& enjoy the pictures in them) they make excellent subjects to draw too.

In November 2024 Pitt Rivers Museum returned a Badeng sunhat to the Kenyah Badeng community in Sarawak, Borneo. Inspired by this return, the inaugural Sa'ung Weaving Competition challenged weavers to make replicas, seen being unpacked here, which will appear in a new exhibition in Sarawak.
Book collecting prize season is firmly upon us! As of last year, The Antiquarian Booksellers' Association's prize - which used to be the 'prize of prizes' for winners of other UK competitions - is open for all young collectors for direct application.

My exhibition Seasons In Suburbia opens today at Moore Gwyn Fine Art 6 Masons Yard Duke Street St James. Nicely hectic private view last night many thanks to those who came wonderful to see so many old friends. Blossom In Suburbia: watercolour and pencil
No marks on the cup, but with the previous collector’s attribution label: "Nast 1820". On the saucer, two parallel incised marks. MEASUREMENTS Diameter of cup: 2 3/8” (6.2 cm), 3” (7.7 cm) with handle, height 2 3/8” (6.2 cm). Diameter of saucer: 5” (12.7 cm), 1” (2.5 cm) deep.
PROVENANCE Doyle, New York, Sale 12AN01, The Estate of Lee B. Anderson, 19 September 2012, Lot 1523 (part). The attribution is questionable, and there is no mark of any kind on either on the cup or saucer. The Nast factory (1783-1835) produced gilt coffee cup and saucer sets similar to this example, as did many other manufactories in Paris at the time. It was not always common practice for manufacturers to use maker’s marks.
Those 19th century wide bands of heavy gilding...
A Paris porcelain coffee cup and saucer with gilt and painted fruit and floral decoration. Possibly made at the Nast factory (1783-1835) around 1820. It's not from Sèvres or Meissen or Chelsea, etc., but it does have some charm.
