A jigsaw puzzle, a long way from being solved.
This is maddening. @noscoredraws.com
The last thing I expected from the finale of Meet Me In St Louis was a 5-year-old wielding a sledgehammer in the dark... wtf?

Tonight's viewing (the former for the first time!) Have a delicious Halloween.
I want to enjoy #DestinationX but it's so confusing. Marketing it as 'mind-bending' doesn't excuse it being difficult to follow!
Also I'm salty about getting the destination right for episode 2 but not getting the badge, because I didn't put my pin exactly where the bus was parked..! π€¨
The Toilette of the State Prosecutorβs Clerk, an illustration of c. 1768 by Carle Vernet, showing one person seated and shielding their face with a cone while another applies hair powder using a brush
On this day in 1795, a tax on hair powder came into effect, intended to help finance Britain's part in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars.

I share the deep disappointment in today's Supreme Court ruling, and the concerns about what this will mean for trans women going forward.
Today and every day, I stand in unwavering solidarity with the trans community.
We must never stop fighting for trans rights.
I must admit, I am rather surprised to learn that the Equality Act 2010 all but repealed the Gender Recognition Act 2004, and that it took until 2025 for anybody to notice.

Yes, not so much religiosity, more history and philosophy of religion! But it's not what I was going for π and apologies for 18D, I see what you mean!!
Thanks so much for the feedback and glad you tried it out!

Word of the day is βhuff-snuffβ (16th century): a hectoring bully or braggart.
Post your favourite #DoctorWho, wrong answers only
Fixed that.
Every year's a leap year if you're easily startled
A few potential words of the day:
Joblijock: a disturber of domestic peace (small children, cantankerous uncles, etc).
Yule-hole: the furthest notch in your belt that you need to resort to at Christmas.
Confelicity: joy in other peopleβs happiness.
Merry Christmas.

Shout out to all the neurodivergents, heading into a week of over stimulation, no routine, sky high expectations, and non optional socialising.
I see you.
A festive story from my #OnePlaceStudy theranknorthbradley.com/2024/12/20/a...
The Bosnian War. It went on for a few years so I can't remember which part specifically, but it's the first international event I remember hearing about.
Just saw Conclave in the cinema. What an amazing-looking film. Unsettlingly intimate and tense, but an absolute treat.
A black and white image of the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, taken on film, giving it a moody, haunted vibe.
In the latest of my adventures in taking photos on film, I took my camera to Rievaulx Abbey. I had mixed levels of success, but I particularly like this one!
Thank you - it's strange, isn't it?!
(there are tables in this post that are rendered horribly on mobile - I apologise for that!)
I've been doing a #OnePlaceStudy on The Rank, a collection of houses in North Bradley, Wiltshire. I came across a name scribbled into the gap between two rows on the 1861 census and did a bit of digging. I uncovered a tragic, but not uncommon, story.

Not knowingly! I have a lot of catching up to do...
So this came to an end recently when I was driving and Long Dark Night came on the radio. It was just so good, so I looked at the screen and saw 'Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds'. I had a ridiculous moment of "oh no! that thing is now not a thing!", then just sat back and enjoyed it. Wow I've missed out.
Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers gave us one of the greatest villains of all time, but it ALSO shows an accurate representation of knitting, something even live-action films don't always manage!
I'm with you there. Low- and no-alcohol drinks have come a long way, a lot of the beers are very drinkable and not at all disgusting!
