NS budget shortfalls force Tim Houston to eliminate ocean HALIFAX - After months of slashing provincial revenue, Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston has announced that he has been forced to entirely cut the Atlantic Ocean from the province.

“Nova Scotians elected me with a clear mandate to starve government revenues before making catastrophic cuts to their standard of living,” Houston said, standing in front of a completely-drained Halifax Harbour. “Or at least, that’s how I interpreted it.” www.thebeaverton.com/2026/03/ns-b...

Let's talk about the morality of the negative economic impact of Tim Houston's attack on Nova Scotia - Halifax Examiner There is a negative economic impact of cutting all the arts and social programs. It is real, and it is enormous, but Houston doesn't value it enough to even measure the loss of them.

"Choosing to decimate arts and cultural funding, equity programs...while letting big extractive industries run over the province without meaningful royalty payments is a political choice...." by @timbousquet.bsky.social www.halifaxexaminer.ca/morning-file... @ecologyaction.bsky.social

We are a couple days early posting this, but it deserves to be celebrated multiple days. International Women's Day is this Sunday and we want to recognize some of our female local authors who blaze trails with their stories. Stories that are more important now than ever before.

Today I wrote to Premier Houston and my MLA about his terrible austerity budget cuts, which will hurt Nova Scotians by taking away $130 million of health, arts, environmental, and community services.

Province Strengthens Housing Legislation to Accelerate Supply

The province just gave themselves more power over HRM, including forcing more sprawl by giving the Minister of Municipal Affairs “temporary regulated authority to amend HRM’s urban service area boundary to build out the infrastructure needed to support sustainable growth.”

I just got confirmation that Tim Houston’s PCs cut the entire Writers in the Schools program.

This man is cutting a program that lets children meet and learn from local authors (among many many other things) so he can spend $5 million teaching civil servants to use AI.

These investments have ROI .

Plus they create a more liveable world for his kids, and their kids.

If we take this out of climate action, we’ll just have to put it back in the general rate.
