Honestly, I wish I was told that the battery system from Enphase relied on the cloud. I mistakenly believed that the local gateway would handle it, as it does for micro inverters. It’s disappointing and means I can’t recommend it to others. It needs local control!
- Investment in API services - including monitoring to see when responses are glacial. No one should be waiting 8 seconds for a tiny blob of JSON
- When you know there's an issue, tell people! I know the app can tell people. So tell them!
Enphase, if you're listening: Here's what I'd like to see:
- Breaking changes to API services can be rolled back gracefully to known-good versions - this is essential for a service with no fallback
- Local API fallback (longer term roadmap)

@octopus.energy I’m getting very frustrated with poor quality issues and basic functionality of my octopus-installed @enphaseenergy.bsky.social battery system. Is there anything you can do to lean on them to improve? It’s a premium priced product and I should be able to use it when I want!
