The book “Mockingjay” by Suzanne Collins
I feel like this was the ending the series needed. Some parts felt like they dragged on, but overall I loved it.

I really liked how this book wasn’t just a romance, it was also a mystery. I enjoyed all the characters in their small town and how adventurous the FMC was

The book “Since You’ve Been Gone” by Morgan Matson
I’ve had this on my shelf probably since middle school and I finally read it. It’s a great story about a high schooler growing into herself and all the characters learn a lot about friendship along the way

I just finished a YA book and as I so often feel when I read a book with a high school aged main character, I do not understand how every single character had parents with no idea where their kids are all summer. Like, states away from home overnight.

The audible cover of “Hamnet” by Maggie O’Farrell
This Bookclub pick was devastating and beautiful. It painted vivid pictures of drew me into a world I previously thought would be hard to imagine. I also loved how well I felt like I knew each of the characters as the story went on.

This book was exactly what I expected and I liked it for that. It’s got a great fake dating plot and the story wraps up right when it should.

The book “Catching Fire” by Suzanne Collins
This book was heartbreaking and nerve wracking and so good. The way it shifts the story more towards the authoritarianism and how no one flourishes under it is perfectly crafted. I am so invested in the story and can’t wait to see where Mockingjay goes.

The book “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins
This story sucked me in and had many alarming parallels to reality. What was most upsetting to me was the way the government took a cruel situation and toyed with it to continually make it worse. I loved the characters and descriptions and can’t wait to read the rest of the series

The book “Four” by Veronica Roth
I enjoyed these stories but it was pretty redundant. This is a fun extension to the series if you’re not quite ready to leave their world, but it doesn’t really bring more to the story.

The book “Allegiant” by Veronica Roth
This book just didn’t need to go the way it did, and the movie honestly demonstrates that, and even the movie feels a little scattered. While I’m glad I read it, it just doesn’t measure up to the start of the story.

The book “Insurgent” by Veronica Roth
This is a great sequel to Divergent but it just doesn’t quite meet that level. It feels like it gets the story where it’s supposed go, and the story is so good, but it’s a little confusing and scattered.

I loved this book the first time I read it and I still do. The way their utopia falls apart slowly and then all at once feels very relevant right now and I love the main characters.

The kindle cover of “Tortilla Flat” by John Steinbeck
Bookclub pick: I was not a fan. I’ve really enjoyed some of Steinbeck’s other work but this one fell flat for me. The humor made me cringe and I could never just enjoy it because the characters were so unconcerned with logistics that I felt like I was just worried for them at every turn

I needed a minute to let this one settle in. I absolutely loved it. I feel like it’s the kind of book I could reread 100 times and I’d figure out something new every time. I cared so deeply for the characters and loved learning about new layers of their lives as the story progressed.

The hoopla audiobook cover of “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I adored this book. It felt so real, I loved how it explored the complexity of Evelyn’s sexuality. She refused to be defined by others’ opinions and I loved feeling like I was watching her fight for what she wanted even as that shifted. I also loved the slight mystery element.
