#Sobeys what is this nonsense! $10 for syrup?!

Kristi Noem is fired! βοΈ
Now only 187 people in power to goβ¦
He promised to spend what was needed in order to fix the healthcare system
It's worse now than ever
This is so disappointing - not at all surprising - and just hurts
3/3
There were no cuts to the top govt. I'm willing to bet the top exec will still get their bonus'
The cuts directly impact minorities and children more than any other demographic
He's spent $2B and nothing has improved

"βThe reality is, $1.2-billion deficit last year, $1.2-billion deficit this year, something has to give,β he told reporters at Province House."
He cut the HST by 1%, which no one asked for
He got rid of the tolls (in 5 years who wants to bet he cuts more stuff to fix that)

My husband is speaking at the budget committee debate today!
you can't solve traffic issues with AI lights. You need to stop subsidizing cars and start investing in green travel. transit, bikes, walking
You don't reduce traffic by making lanes wider or increasing speeds
you have to remove more cars from the road
invest in transit!
Did you know if all the students request a school bus for next year, it will cost the govt way more than whatβs being invested in the transit pass program?
Something to contact the govt about. Why the want to spend MORE money on a program that only has half the advantages
2/2
For those concerned about the transit pass for students being revoked:
Grades 7-12 are eligible for a school bus to Dartmouth high, but most opt to do metro because itβs faster.

Screenshot of post from Kings Co-op Bookstore β You wake up cold in your $3000 per month bachelor apartment. Itβs lightly raining so your power is out. Youβre sick but you will never have a family doctor. You skip breakfast because you canβt afford groceries. You put hiking boots on so you donβt fall on the unpaved sidewalks. You move past the 30 minute wait for the 15 minute bus as students walk by who can no longer take it. In front of the closed museum is a parked car destroyed by a pothole. A tent city where unhoused people are getting ready for work is being harassed by Police. You arrive at the hospital and prepare for your 27 hour wait. Thinking about all the things you miss in Halifax.β

Know what makes transit accessible? Ensuring kids donβt have to pay.
Plowing sidewalks properly so we can get to the bus
So much black ice! Stepped out of my car and my foot went right under it, splaying me out on the road π be careful out there!
There should be a rule
You canβt declare war (or even get close to it) if you canβt find that country on an unlabeled map
Second round test: whoβs the leader of that country
It should be illegal to get all the perimenopause symptoms and still get your fucking period

And I can guarantee that in the next round of bargaining, it will be on the table

So many studies have proved that WFH is beneficial to EVERYONE.
It's also proven that productivity doesn't suffer - it improves!
I rely on a WFH day due to chronic issues. Without that day of saving my spoons, I end up needing more sick time
This is not going to go over well

Just discovered that @nsgov.bsky.social is forcing everyone back to work in office full time. Bargaining employees were able to keep their work from home days, but as of April 2026, everyone will be in office full time.
This is so short-sighted.

2) So so so many places are putting it out there, not hiring and asking for immigrants
This is not a slam on immigration. I'm pro-immigration
But the system that's set up is exploiting immigrants and disadvantaging local teens
2/2
This doesn't give reasons. Just that students can't find work, and employers can't find employees
1) People are no longer tolerating crap treatment. Just because someone is min wage doesn't mean they get min respect

There are days I don't see any particularly relevant news stories.
Then there are days where I spam content and opinions π
Have to get my mind of the snow storm and the overall crap happening in the world
"The minister also said that while Canada Post is a vital institution, it hasn't been profitable for seven years."
Therein lies the problem. This should be a public service, not a business. There is no need for profits and big bonus' for execs.
This is a great first step.
It's not enough. 62 affordable units when we have a houseless epidemic is barely a drop in the barrel.
Also important to note: $828/month is more than someone on social services or disability can afford.
Finally, I read once kids asked why they had to learn complex algebra because they'd never use it in the real world.
The teacher said, it's not about using it, it's about learning how to approach & break down a problem to find a solution.
Wish I'd known that when I was in school.

Class sizes need to be reduced. Teachers need more resources ($).
Better education funds at the front can help solve more problems down the road.
Just like preventative med can help long term, better schooling young will help grow kids who grow into adults with complex (and progressive) thinking
4/5
The current model has students being tested regularly by provincial tests that determine how kids are doing. But teachers teach kids how to pass this test, rather than actually learn the concepts.
Kids who learn easily are forgotten while others struggle with not enough help 3/5
Notably, teachers CAN'T do this, because they don't have time/resources to.
For years, I thought I was stupid. Couldn't do math. Until grade 12 when my math teacher sat with me for hours helping figure out HOW I learn best. My grade went from 50 to 84. In a year! 2/5
While this study was in Wales, it's implications are world-wide. Esp in Canada, and NS, kids aren't being taught HOW to learn. They learn why it's important to learn, they learn strategies to solve equations, but no one helps them find out how each individual learns. And that's a problem 1/5
