I will say that I think the ceiling for extraction shooters is pretty low cause they require a lot of constant investment and buy in so you can have fun runs and die and have econ runs etc. It's a lot easier to sneak in an Overwatch match in-between Rivals matches than Arc to Marathon.

For reference I do think the game is "Fine" btw. Highguard was kinda obviously bad in a lot of spots, Concord was the same, etc, but Marathon on launch seems fine.

The question is how far "It's fine" will take you. For some that's enough to hit a sequel and fail and get up ala Overwatch 1/2/1.

Thankfully the 40$ price tag helps cause you'll always be bringing in some money *as long as the game remains relevant in the extraction shooter niche* but I also don't have a lot of faith in Bungie given the mismanagement from higher ups and especially their owners.

I don't know if Marathon is gonna die quick or if it'll have the guaranteed whales to be successful etc but I really do think we're at a limit for live service that expects to bring in Fortnite level money and especially for extraction shooters.
