I canβt, Mary, though Iβd dearly love to π
Donβt even go there. Iβm already dreading it π
Heβs gorgeous. But the shelter is great, too: non-kill, obviously, and really loving. Theyβre going to neuter him and give him his inoculations. Theyβre assured me theyβll find a loving home for him.
I absolutely would, Carol, but my cat Dickens is fiercely territorial and very unhappy with a stranger in his home. I just donβt want to upset him.
Update: miraculously, the shelter has a place for him! But he can only go in two daysβ time, so heβll stay with me until Friday. #catwatch
Hahahaha! Yes! Very Siouxsie!
No chip, Iβm afraid, Sally. Iβm now waiting on the cat shelter to get back to me about a place for him. Iβd love to keep him, but my Dickens-cat will have none of it.
Quite at home, my dear.
A restless night and an early trip to the vets. As I suspected, the cat has not been microchipped. Iβm now waiting for a callback from the Cat Rescue here in Lancaster. #catwatch
Me too, Vil.
Update: happy as Larry.
Me too, Shirls. I somehow doubt it, though. Heβs not been neutered, which is always a bad sign, I think. But heβs extremely affectionate.
I hope so too, V. It was JUST after Iβd said goodbye to you. I just couldnβt leave him. Dickens is freaking out, though, so I have to keep them in separate parts of the house.
Heβs very handsome. And very friendly, too. Thereβs no way that heβs a stray.
It breaks my heart. Seriously.
An upsetting thing at the gym just now. This lovely chap approached me in the car park, meowing as if he were actually pleading for help. I think heβs been abandoned, as there are no houses nearby. Brought him home, of course, and fed him. Ravenous. Will take him to vet tomorrow. Hope heβs chipped.
Anyone got access to the most recent issue of βEighteenth-Century Fictionβ? My uni library database hasnβt updated yet, and thereβs a review (the first) of my Lewis book in there. Gulp. If anyone could email it to me Iβd be so happy. (But donβt read the review β in case they say itβs shit)
Great! Thatβs more than I get to do, to be sure!
I like it a lot as a novel. But there again, Iβve never read a Radcliffe text that I donβt love.
Heads-up, Radcliffe / Gothic people: hereβs the brilliant Deborah Russell on Radcliffeβs first novel, βThe Castles of Athlin and Dunbayneβ (1789). π£
Just seen βThe Brideβ. Schlocky, camp and fun, as only an homage to James Whale could be. @drvil.bsky.social
Yes, youβre right. Cats *are* incredibly aloof and standoffish.

Make one in memory of her tomorrow x
Yes, Carolyn. I like the grittiness. I use caster sugar for the batter, though.
Lemon drizzle loaf π
Toasted sourdough topped with homemade creamy hummus and balsamic-glazed mushrooms and wild rocket π
