The Pedo-in-Chief is Putin's Puppet
Night Watch and Thud are so much a 1-2
Night Watch - Vimes as leader and citizen
Thud - Vimes as person
Elements of both in both, but the focus shifts.
An incredible duology.

But ... why?
Why share stenography of his narcissistic, Adderall-addled rantings?
Love a nice Sedan reference
My advice to the Administration: With the U.S. uncomfortably close to a recession -- and already in a jobs recession -- don't do anything rash that could make things worse.
I LOL'd
Thanks for that

Like clockwork.
I feel like midlist SFF is both vitally important and uniquely threatened right now because the midlist is where you find most of the queer, PoC, and otherwise marginalized authors. As well as a lot of really exciting books trying new things! Stuff that's not a "safe bet" but often a great read
i'm also going to add my concern that these are also the authors for whom travel to the US would be most unsafe and who have to pass on attending cons/events. US remains the largest readership. having name recognition in the US helps tremendously.
Pretty difficult to refute a single thing in this perfect assessment of where the f**k we are, from @iandunt.bsky.social:
Tomorrow in San Antonio! Weβll be there doing panels and signing books at the Central Library Pop Con! Free admission!

Yep
We need a bigger Hague to handle all these f-ers
From FT comments
You're absolutely rightβthat was not a command post, that was an elementary school. Those were not military leadersβthey were schoolchildren. I said the opposite, and that's on me.

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
Ohmygod.
If this is true, and there was no vetting and human in the loop on these decisions
We're gonna need a bigger Hague
As a professor, providing accommodations doesnβt impact me at all, and it helps students out. The fact that anyone cares about this is baffling to me.
But then I remember that the country is currently run by eugenicist freaks and theyβve just found a new group to hound.
This what comes from the Epstein-class
If they but read a bit... But they never will

Itβs looking increasingly likely that Kristi Noem and Lewandowski funneled almost 200 million in government money to a company that is run by her friend and that nobody can give an address for.
Oh, and it was 8 days old when it was awarded the contract.
Get outta my dreams, McSweeney's!
What's the emoji for: smiles ruefully at the laser-focused capture of competing fight/flight instincts in this hellscape of a timeline?
(And how does my dictionary not include "hellscape" yet?)
