My first input to an #opensource project as a code contributor — tweaking the waveform visualisation on @soundsky.bsky.social — just went live and I'm pretty happy with it.
@ethehot.bsky.social I've been working on a redesign of the @soundsky.bsky.social wave visualisation, testing it, listening to tunes over and over again... I am obsessed with your Silk Rhodes cover. So slick. Great work!
Yes and No. Anything goes but really the user and PDS owners are responsible for making this decision alone since the data is hosted on their servers 😉 Soundsky doesn't exist as a service, it's just an audio browser

absolutely and enjoy your hot takes - but nobody is forcing you to use anything here - the internet is big and your approval is not a necessity for people to have fun with their ideas. We have fun doing what we're doing and why the rest doesn't matter much ✌️
You don't have to eat it for breakfast or use it at all. If you do, feel free to propose a better name - or even launch it - all it takes is forking the repository and serving it under any name. Jokes aside, this is just an opensource project. Be mad at soundcloud for asking its users money instead?
soundsky is an opensource project, not a company! Join the fun instead of competing, cooperate! Let's make it as good as you want it to be but mind soundsky is a webapp (client-side only intentionally) without servers - so it has a few limitations
We'll make this optional once technically viable

We somehow doubt they're thinking of an always public, DRM free, unstoppable and uncontrollable audio sharing platform by any stretch of the imagination... but hey if they are they might find #soundSky and we won't be like Jerry
that's right we have half a dozen extra fields now but it'll take a better upload form design to avoid cluttering things up to look like a mess. Proposals welcome! FYI You can only upload/see new lex posts from next.soundsky.cloud

As of point 1. not sure what you mean, could you elaborate? The app works fine with bsky.social accounts or custom PDS/Domains as far as our testing goes. Happy to fix anything missing. As of 2. we kinda like mixing comments with regular ones but its going to be up to the community. Possibly both!
Make yourself home - issues, contributions, criticism and proposal are greatly welcome! We're building a react version of the app in parallel to the current discovery version where we can reimplement the logic more elegantly once we're set on what matters to users.
What you're using IS the beta. Developed in public, live.
