A cyclopic assassin robot searches though the rubble of a post apocalyptic planet. A human cowers in the darkness, minutes from death.
The amazing Ed Valigursky (1926-2009).

After mulling this over since 2020, this year looks like the year that we'll finally host a Moorcockian RPG microcon here in Bradford. As the patrons were pretty evenly split on dates, we're just gonna do both and theme them around law vs chaos. Or something. Details to follow...

All about the "witch" Rosina Jane Massey.
Our latest research on the witch history around Little Gaddesden and Ringshall - berkhamsted-history.org.uk/wp-content/u... but also had fun checking out Grim's Ditch - dug by a giant called Grim or maybe the Wizard of Aldbury aka Sir Guy de Gravade, he also sold his soul to the devil, as you do!

Here's the route link, we started at Tring station, get there via London Euston about 40mins. Boggy this time of year, so walking boots a must. Need to be moderately fit for some of the inclines & to cope with aforementioned bogs. Aldbury great for food/drink.

Yes, that was the other option, we were running on empty so just stumbled into the nearest one.
I didn't know Aldbury is called the Hollywood of the Home Counties, given all the filming that takes place there.

The lone spruce perched upon a misty rise
Misty Ivinghoe Beacon Ridgeway Circular completed. We ended up doing 12 miles before resting our bones in The Greyhound Inn at Aldbury. Some steep parts up to Ivingohoe, a killer at Steps Hill. The rest undulating at times boggy. Interesting Little Gaddesden, every other house has witch in the name.

I'd have to write it up 😁 but it is based on @effektpodcast.org ideas in this episode. www.effektpodcast.org/262 which leverages the push mechanism from their Tales of the Old West.
I went a bit further to assign group vs individual DP, still experimenting with it.

In addition, the core "push a roll" mechanic and production of Darkness Points to allow the GM to mess with players quickly produces so many DP you don't know what to do with it. We've had to house rule some of this.

It definitely needs careful management of the factions (lore), that was something the players felt a bit overawed by. It's probably something common to sci-fi space exploration RPGs - Where do you start? How do you prep when PCs can go off anywhere?

I am also running a fortnightly campaign of Coriolis: The Third Horizon, which has a very rich setting. An old iteration of Year Zero Engine, so not to everyone's taste, but as I think @effektpodcast.org say, there is an adventure hook in every paragraph of the book... I personally love it.

I think I'd go Pressure, as it expands the universe, more campaign centric & is backwards compatible with TDP.
I think both do a good balancing act of using pressure/panic mechanics, I think it's less extreme than other RPGs.
But both I've run successfully at cons & there are loads of one-shots.

I thought for one crazy moment this was the Merryshire / Page Turners crossover the world was looking for, but that would be a double g Boggart.
