The EAA votes are out

The great majority of our archaeological community has voted in favour of the petitions raised by #concernedEAA. We asked for a democratic process, we asked for accountability, and for the need to acknowledge the horrific genocidal policy of Israel against Gaza.

Tengo la fortuna de participar con un capítulo sobre la imagen interactiva jugable y compartir plantel con tanta gente guapa e interesante. Es el libro que me hubiera gustado leer cuando empecé.

From my own niche: institutions of higher education should stop chasing trends, work internally to assert a set of values, and then build curriculum around those values.

I'm really into classical receptions

A good meditation on why just "recreating" an historic structure architecturally without the everyday lived context ends up with a sterile result.

Also why thoughtful environmental storytelling is so powerful

How We Paint November For a long time, people told me to play Pentiment. It’s an adventure role-playing game set in 16th century Bavaria. It’s historical. So I should like it, right? The thing is, I’m less interested in…

It's the last day of the month and my first blog post in a while... so, how do you paint November?

A blog about Pentiment, creativity and game development.

Pentiment is an AMAZING videogame, and unique in its own way. It instantly became one of my all-time favorites!

Calling all #archaeogaming folks! Immortals Fenyx Rising is now free on Ubisoft Connect for the launcher's fifth anniversary. The game is set on the Golden Isle, a land ruled by the Greek gods, and you play as Fenyx, a young mortal shield-bearer in the Spartan army. Just claimed it!

Anno 117: Pax Romana just launched today and some players are already complaining about inaccurate "woke propaganda" because a woman is declared empress and a centurion is "not white enough". I'm speechless.

Archaeology as Worldbuilding | Cambridge Archaeological Journal | Cambridge Core Archaeology as Worldbuilding

I just published my article Archaeology as Worldbuilding, an effort that grows out of 20+ years of digital (and analog) archaeological making. Adjacent to recent arguments about storytelling, I broaden our scope to make past worlds & tell stories in community with others.
