At yesterday's Business Network Meetup, we met new people and made great connections!
Our work touches everything from #Equity & Inclusivity to Safe #Access to Clean Air to Civic #Engagement
No matter size or sector, here's how your #business can take part in our mission: bikepgh.org/business
Care about sidewalk conditions in Pittsburgh? Read this thread and consider signing up for the next training session. I’ve collected sidewalk data in my neighborhood and so can you!
🚧 We know you have questions about the Commercial St Bridge project! Come ask them at our virtual "Advocacy Network Gathering" on March 19, where we'll be hearing directly from PennDOT.

Note: This recommended detour is still the same:
→ We have upcoming free trainings for you to get involved! (March 26, March 28, April 11)
-- Pick your favorite and sign up at www.pittsburghwalks.org/sidewalks
We are also working together with Pittsburghers for Public Transit, Riverlife, and other passionate Pittsburghers to train hundreds of volunteers to assess the quality & accessibility of every sidewalk in Pittsburgh, and record their findings using a mobile "app" developed by the City.
Here's some good context to add:
→ The Safe Sidewalks Crew is a shared effort! Pittsburgh Walks, a coalition formed with support from BikePGH, has worked hard on the launch of this sidewalk assessment project in partnership with Access Mob Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Mobility and Infrastructure.
🚶Happy to see this story get picked up! Even though BikePGH has “bike” in our name, we also advocate for the rights of our neighbors who walk and use mobility devices to get around.
~The ride is inclusive of trans, non-binary, and intersex people, cis women, genderqueer, agender and gender variant folks, as well as those whose gender identity falls outside of the dominant conceptions of gender.
Oh look, it's a bunch of our favorite people all getting together in one place!

🗣️ Help shape Allegheny County's Comprehensive Plan at the virtual public meeting on March 11 -- "Allegheny Forward" will guide decisions on things like transportation, land use, housing, and climate.

2.) Head to our blog on how to organize a neighborhood trash cleanup: bikepgh.org/2024/10/01/make-sure-litter-has-no-place-on-streets
Here's what to do:
1.) Report things like crumbling sidewalks, debris in bike lanes, and broken flex posts to 311 - bikepgh.org/311guide
#PITTSBURGH, PA has now entered... THE GREAT THAW.
Enjoying some less frigid conditions, but the warm-up also means:
👎 melted snow reveals trash all over the place
👎 sidewalk biohazards (beware the dog 💩 )
👎 debris-filled bike lanes & walkways
PennDOT wants your quick input as they work to improve highway traffic safety across PA.
✍️ Take the short survey by Feb 28th -- there are some good biking & walking questions:

This connection would mean:
- more traffic for local businesses
- more ways to move without a car for thousands of people
- direct link to Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s West Busway
- stronger connections to the GAP + Montour Trail
"The City of Trails" has a nice ring to it!
Big win for #Pittsburgh: Funding was just secured to extend the #Panhandle Trail into #Carnegie, and it's all low-cost and high-impact.

Maybe you've noticed we've ramped up our pedestrian advocacy in more ways than one.
