Also. It certainly says something that items 3-6 on this Google search pull articles on the "totally not an insurrection" capitol riot.
This seems like a good time to repost the ADL's Hate symbols database.
(Beartato and Reginald, in a museum, gaze upon the Mona Lisa) BEARTATO: There it is. The Mona Lisa. The most famous painting in history. REGINALD: Wow! What's it do? BEARTATO: It... what? REGINALD: Why's it famous? What's it do? (Beartato thinks.) BEARTATO: I don't know. REGINALD (to nearly museum employee): Excuse me! Sir? What's it do? EMPLOYEE: You're the first person to ask! Watch this! (The employee yanks a pull-string. Mona Lisa's eyes spin around and her mouth opens like a puppet) MONA LISA: Honk honk! Honk honk! (Everyone is delighted. This is true art.)

People treat rules like they are an active infringement on their life but even in rules lite games (and don't get me started on how troubled that phrase is) there are inherent rules (societal convention) that they are using to shore up the play of their games
Having inherent structure is good
Probably emerald of chivor or celadon cat? Not sure if I want to put something with shimmer in a new pen or not. I'll post whatever I decide tonight.
Okay there are a LOT of books coming out in March 2026. Let's start with the fantasy novels, including new Ilona Andrews, new Ava Reid, and new Jenn Lyons!! π³ππ

I'm excited to give it a try. It's such a pretty pen. Planning on filling it tonight.
A Conklin edura deco crest in demonstrator blue nestled in its box alongside the gold spot special edition kaweco sport. The endura is a clear fountain pen sheathed in a web of blue metal with rose gold accents. As a demonstrator it is designed so you can see the ink inside. Unseen because the cap it on but I got it with the omniflex nib. The kaweco is a plastic sport fountain pen in a metallic teal with silver sparkles. It has the goldspot logo on it in silver.
One failed wisdom save later...
In my defense I have a -5 against demonstrators and just *look* at it. Plus it has a flex nib. I didn't have a flex nib.
And. And. And I didn't have a sport either. And it's teal and sparkly just like my other sparkly teal pens...
Thank you! Will do.
It's time! Nominations are now open for the 2026 Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction, which will be given to a work of imaginative fiction, published in 2025, that reflects the concepts and ideas that were central to Ursulaβs own work.
Ok, I need some happy books and that's not something I excel at picking out. Preference for SFF, but I'll take anything.
Should be a temporary shift, but at least I finished On Vicious Worlds yesterday (excellent book). I'm currently working on the first book in bobiverse (so far so good).

Things that brought me joy in Feb included a baby slow loris, deep rock galactic survivor, and life advice from a decor blog.
Seriously, go read the decor blog. They have incredible things to say about what makes you happy.

Tea tray on a wooden table with a dark blue cloth down. Foreground a white handleless teacup with a skull relief on the side holds a dark reddish puer. The tea wrapper is on the table next to it reads Tewvivre, Ripened Zhang Xiang (camphor wood scent) pu-er mini brick. In the background a square ceramic tea tray holds a pitcher and small teapot. A mug to the side of the tray is for the wash steep.
Trying a camphor wood scent puer for the first time. Not sure yet if it's my jam, but it's good company. π« π΅
Ooh, that book was an instant pre-order.
Also, that teacup is beautiful.
Ah! That makes sense, lol. I'll look into fox down. Still learning my way around and figuring out what I like so it's good to get recommendations from people.
I have one of the snoozefest and it is already extremely good and will only get better!
Which tea has the dragon design on the package?
Check out Yazeba's bed and breakfast for an example of shared characters evolving over time. One of my favorite aspects of that game.
Tea tray with a cup of golden hued tea left of center, a small teapot, a ceramic hand holding a leaf shaped silver filter, two tea pets a snail and a tiny lady bug, and a mug that says NYC in a subway tile pattern (to hold the wash steep).
Today's tea is @white2tea.bsky.social's 2022 Veldt from their recent coin bag while I wait for the snow to arrive.

If you donβt think you know anyone with long covid what you really mean is that people are uncomfortable sharing their health status with you or there are people who have dropped out of your life (due to illness) that you havenβt checked up on.
this is why the whole βoh, suffering creates great artβ thing is bullshit
you know whatβs conducive to art? a roof over your head and food on the table
you know what isnβt? stressing out over where the fuck the rent money is going to come from
So Bree hinted at this story a few days ago, but I want to circle back now that I have permission to share it.
WHISTLES OUT: A WHISTLE CREW MYSTERY
Woohoo!
We're funded.
Incredibly grateful to the folks who have pitched in and increased pledges and hyped up the project over the last few days (as well as the folks who been there from day one). I don't take any of you for granted.
So so thankful to everyone who is making this a reality.
Please listen to me very carefully right now: Learn to take and celebrate small short wins, to build momentum and morale, or you and everyone you need to fight beside you will be burned out, demoralized, and demotivated before the next big opportunity comes along.
Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrateπ§§
The last Year of the Fire Horse began in '66 & saw anti-war protests & civil rights struggle. It was the year Rev. Jackson left seminary to join Dr. Kingβs Freedom Movement.
May 2026 bring New York the same bold change people deserve.
Monstrously evil. Abolish ICE. Melt down its weapons and sell off all of its assets. Release everyone from its concentration camps and grant citizenship (if they want it) to everyone whose rights it has violated.
