My employer Canterbury Shaker Village lost a small NEH grant. I wrote it. I used words such as "equality" and "citizenship." The same words were used in CHATGPT to cancel grants.
The same words are in the nation's founding documents.

This is so much more appropriate. Especially when compared to the Shield of America (does somebody want to be like Marvel?) using Sinead's version of Nothing Compares to U.

I think #8 should be much higher. It had too much defense for some but the Lions beating the first US team to get close to winning on the final play was an outstanding end to a great game.
ICE was very active in Minneapolis today, they kidnapped multiple people. ICE didn't leave, the media has moved on but we are still under federal occupation.
Yikes! Where would this rank on the news cycle?
The White House said in June, and I quote, "Iranβs Nuclear Facilities Have Been Obliterated β and Suggestions Otherwise are Fake News"

Studies show that when local news outlets stop scrutinizing government, efficiency drops. Public payrolls bloat. Waste increases.
The cost gets passed to youβroughly $85 in added taxes per person after a county loses one of its last few papers.

Tweet that reads Leo Xander @STALLEON Stop taking social media so serious. Nothing here is real. Look at this chicken V - it is bigger than the car
I think about this tweet every time I feel something online start to curl its annoying little grip into my head
The Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics will conclude in Verona at the Arena di Verona, an ancient Roman amphitheatre and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Quite the scene for the flame to die as we look ahead to French Alps 2030.
These Games certainly reinvigorated the Winter Olympics.
very good explanation of why not to feed images into an image generator, especially when memorializing children after a devastating tragedy.
better not to use image generators at all.
I haven't wanted to travel to the US lately, but this might test my resolve.
Writing is thinking.
It's not some marginal boring task you can skip. It's the heart of it.
US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:
"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."
True. Wonder about Dallas, San Jose, NJ. I think the Leafs need to look for a young D with offensive upside. Hard to get, they will need to take a risk or get lucky. Maybe McMann, OEL or Stolarz or some combo for Nemec.
They have a bad team. They should lean into it and draft high for a couple of years. If they want a vet, use free agency. I would rather they pay Stretcher, a local guy who was loved by fans and plays with effort.
The parallels between M.P. and OEL are actually interesting. Both part of a trade in which Van gives up a 1st round pick, then have an off year, and the team plummets. Maybe it's an organizational issue as vets play worse there. 2 firsts and the 32nd, technically a second, moved up because of Ott
Agree OEL has value, particularly to a contender. Not a big upgrade over the three vets Van has in Hronek, M. Pettersson and Myers. M.P. has had down year, just like OEL in Van. If they traded one of those 3D, OEL at 3.5 M is fine but giving up a 1st Rd pick when you are in 32nd place is bizarre.
Where do you see the team positioned in the Atlantic or Eastern Conference after this? To argue one point, I would be very surprised in Vancouver was interested in OEL after his first stint was a disaster, ending with a huge buyout. Also, they are in 32nd, they are not trading a 1st for an aging D.
The Washington Post just laid off its entire award-winning photo team. They were our eyes in places we'll never see. It's a horrifying loss at a time when lying governments, propaganda and AI slop are on the rise.

We had a fantastic World Read Aloud Day with author @marshaskrypuch.bsky.social learning about how she feels the "moral responsibility" to show young readers what it's like to step into the shoes of people impacted by the war in Ukraine. Her series Kidnapped from Ukraine is a must-read. #WRAD #MGlit

BC has lost some good players today, and I don't see them replacing them in Free Agency. It will have to be a great recruiting class in this case and a return to health for Dejon Allen. Any word on the latter? @farhanlaljitsn.bsky.social @jcabbott.bsky.social
Came here to see a Gibson book. I was also very disappointed it didn't get a second season.
