Skinning up to a peak to check snow conditions during the 2024-2025 ski season. It was safe! And an amazing day. Far cry from this year.
Iβm up to 16 total ski (backcountry + resort)days this year. Last season by March 5th I had 16 backcountry days. Pic to make me feel good.
Another death, the two decided skinning up along trees was safer, apparently without considering the slope above the trees. Backcountry travel can be tricky. Have a checklist of actions, a travel route, and stick to it. Donβt let the allure of untouched snow change your plans.
The number one reason I limit who I go backcountry skiing with is summed up right here. Everyone of the recent deaths underscores the importance of decision making. This particular group asked if everyone had their beacon, but never did a check. Canβt imagine how the rest of the group feels.
The truth is hot sometimes.
There's nothing fiscally conservative about sprawl. There's nothing "small government" about the costs of sprawl.
It means it either has to get through the committee tomorrow or the house waives the rule and calls it up the house floor for a vote. Itβs not dead. Ironically if it doesnβt pass, it means SB195 would remain in effect which in my opinion, is way worse for the city.
Amazing the sway the towing lobby has.
SB242 not making it out of committee was not on my bingo card.
This is my least favorite public art piece Iβve ever seen. Replicating the echo canyon makes it feel like radiator springs. So much potential and that is what we got.
Not much of a surprise here, but NWS confirms this past meteorological winter was Salt Lake City's warmest since record collecting began in 1874, breaking the previous record by 2.2 degrees.
I imagine the same will be the case statewide when that data is released on March 9 #utwx
Has anyone checked on the board of peace today?
Twice in a day seems unhealthy.
Information we all need. This seems like a bad move though, the self check out line gets huge and the large aisle seemed like a good place for it?
Pretty hard to secure the border when the military takes out border patrol drones.

Sadly, one of these two people didnβt recover and died.
The vintage sign ordinance is under rated.
John also likes to bully baby monies.
This changes everything. Itβs a yes.
But they say maga stands for something else, then promptly lose the weird library thing.
HB might be one of the most MAGA cities in socal. I bet they love SCOTUS brushing them off.
Letβs go!
This one doesnβt sound like it will end well.

Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were killed by a driver of an SUV while riding their bikes.
There is a lot of truth to this. We all have our struggles, but the path and process of addressing them carries a lot of value.
Looks like UAC didnβt get an updated release from the county sheriff, glad to hear the initial release was not correct.
From Utah Avalanche Center
And to top it off, another rescue is ongoing in Days Fork.
Sadly another death. Itβs easy to second guess people, when the warnings say stay off of and out of the area below avalanche prone areas, please listen. Nearly all of Butler Basin fits the bill, area in pink are slopes steep enough to avalanche.
