Drying back is when you let the soil dry back completely and the plant gets a little wilty and then you water it again and then let it dry back and get wilty again… keep doing that until it herms from water stress

That was the plant saving its genetics and is a pretty common way to force some herms. The Trop Cherry Gas that I grew did the same thing at the end.

A female plant that is forced to herm will create feminized pollen and the seeds it produces will be feminized.

You can do pheno hunts looking for traits and help shape the genetics. Pheno hunt 2nd gen and cull anything that herms.

If you use chemicals to herm you cannot consume plant material

Example… if you use drying back to stress the plant into herming, the seeds it eventually produces will have an increased chance to herm if the plants have to dry back…. Not guaranteed, just a higher likelihood.

Environmental issues that can cause your plant to herm…
Lighting
Nutes
Watering
High Stress Training

If you use any of those to help the plant to herm you run the risk that progeny will also herm when faced with those environmental factors

You can chemically or environmentally stress the plant into herming.

If you do it chemically (STS, colloidal silver) there is a lesser chance of passing the herm trait on to progeny.

If you do it through environment you have a higher chance of passing environmental herm traits on
