The magic here is mainly due to excise duties (35% on gasoline and 22% on diesel) and VAT (17%). At a gasoline price of β¬2.39/$2.76 per liter, β¬1.11/$1.28 goes to the state. So, the equivalent of $4.84 per gallon of gasoline goes to the state treasury. π₯³
Haven't seen a milkman here since 1985 or so. In the supermarket, only plastic containers or cardboard cartons with those silly screw caps... Some organic stores do sell dairy in bottles. Though many farmers have a "milk tap" where you can fill your own bottles with pasteurized milk.
It's not too bad there... We pay, converted to dollars, $9.24 for a gallon. It'll probably go up to 11 over the course of the week. And that is for the cheapest kind. Diesel is even more expensive than gasoline now, which costs $9.89 per gallon.
Sorry to hear that Peter. I hope you recover quickly.
I think most people see a dollop of whipped cream...

That dumpster is new and must have arrived in a large cardboard box...
It's a real shame that it's not possible to publish my QRZ page in that 1983 magazine...
They'd be shaking for weeks...

In the event of a power outage, it mainly depends on what you want to do. I have a total of 4800 Wh available with power stations and backup batteries. With careful planning, my pellet stove, freezer, refrigerator, and judicious use of a kettle or coffee maker I might be able to run for 24 hours.
Fossibot F1200, 1024 Wh, 1200Watt, 11.5kg costs GBP 369 in the UK. Jackery 1000V2, 1070Wh, 1500W, 10kg in the UK shop 445. The AC70 (successor to the EB70 from Bluetti) 768Wh, 1000Watt, 10.2kg costs 379. Searching can certainly help, there are regular offers where you can save some money. 3/3
I used it in my DIY campervan, initially for conversion, later for the 12V compressor cooler.
Since we use more 230V equipment in the campervan, I've now bought a Fossibot F2400, but it weighs 22 kilos, not really portable. But it's a solid device with many features and possibilities. 2/3
Jackery certainly isn't bad, but I think the price is a bit high. Of course, it also depends on what you're going to use it for, especially when it comes to the 230V side and how many watts you'll draw on it.
I have a Bluetty EB70, 716 Wh, 1000 watts on the 230V side, weighing 9.7 kg. 1/3
My silly evening project last week turned out well! β€οΈ
Super cheap, ready assembled touch key for the KX2 and KX3.
Needs a bit of refining, but the first spin works well!

The average lithium-ion battery manufacturer thinks very differently about this...

Why would you do that? It increases the risk of short circuits, corrosion, and fire. Salt water is conductive and potentially aggravates chemical reactions.

Good FT8 reception today on 12m. Mostly with WSJT-X Improved V3.0, but also partly with MSHV 2.76.4 and standard WSJT-X 2.7. The antenna is a TF2D, Diamond WD330S, and the receiver is the FTdx10.
Just because i can...

Maybe just go back to how things used to be?

A Bresser 7002580 here, a fine 5 in 1 weather station. Costs around β¬70,- . I use Energizer Ultimate Lithium battery's for the outdoor unit as those are very good for the wintertime. The indoor unit has a charger style power supply.
Wasn't the tube linear amplifier invented to fight the cold in the shack? π
On the other hand, oil radiators aren't the most effective electric heaters. I replaced mine with electric convection heaters, and they heat much better. They are also more comfortable than an electric heater with a fan.
Maybe. On the other hand, I see it mentioned on websites, so it might just be my lack of knowledge. I do remember seeing it before, but I didn't do anything with it. Probably because I gave up on the idea of ββLinux solely for radio because of a few Windows-only programs I use. So not too important.
Oh, wonderful! As a semi-elderly retiree, this immediately reminds me of what I don't miss! I've had these kinds of assignments for years. But not anymore! Happy me...
It is! It is! It is!
Screenshot with an overview of the MSHV decoding software. Mode is FT8 on the 12 meter band.
And here it is in Windows...
Latest version 10-6-2025. Also for Linux 64 bif... π
But further looking into it it seems not true... The groups.io page is fairly active and in the files section the last version is 2.58. But on LZ2HV's website the latest version is 2.76.4 . Do not see a date there. And, I seem to remember that you only could download via the io page in the past?
Latest release is from 2021, that is not keeping up indeed. π
Some improvement's from DG2YCB are also in the V3 beta of WSJT-X now.
[Little voice in my head] But why do I know that? It still is not my favorite mode...
