That's what they're looking for right now, people dedicated willing to pick apart the game. It's already slowly adding systems and game modes like Street Brawl that are more accessible to casual and new players
Also the "invite only" system is more of a filter than anything else for the devs to have the players that really want to try the game and offer feedback. You can easily get access if you have a friend playing or just jump in their discord or other communities and look for a code
The game's current state will never put you far behind, even though a lot of people call it "beta" from how polished it looks, it still is an early development and gets reworks at a significant pace. Just a few days ago the movement tech got a slight change, so the players always relearn
