Is this metacine?
Let's see if we're more civilised here than in the evil twin. Any takes on DLCs being nominated as GOTY contenders?
ΒΏQueda hueco en esa lista? βΊοΈ
6 - Shadow of the Colossus
This game was my βclickβ moment for seeing games as something more. Just one character, a horse and 16 colossi to create one of the most unforgettable experiences in gaming.
So using the MDA framework as an example, you'd start thinking about the aesthetics first, right? If so, What's the next thing to do? Do you "jump" directly from emotions to mechanics or is there any intermediate step? How do you validate the emotions you're looking for are the ones you're getting?
5- Tibia
One of the first MMORPGs. This game is the reason I became a developer. It was really popular in my hometown and with some friends we ran a modded server which ended up being played some of the city's cyber cafΓ©s. Probably my biggest achievement as a dev π€£
4- Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The one and only. Unrepeatable. Stupidly ahead of its time. Objectively the true GOAT. No discussions allowed here.
Ohh got you! Check miro.com or even Draw.io, I think Miro allows you to have 2 workspaces for free.
Hey! What do you mean with "game mechanics maps"? Not sure if I'm 100% understanding you. Thanks for the follow as well!
3- Black
I don't know if you know/remember Black, but to me this was one one of the most technically mind-blowing experiences of PS2 generation. The moment you fire a RPG to a building and it windows shatter floor by floor still resonates in my memories.
I'd love to be there as well βΊοΈ
2- Dark Souls III
This was the one that made me fall in love with the saga and itβs the one I recommend to anyone wanting to get into the genre. Beyond its superb combat design, it brings some QoL elements that make it one of the best soulslike experiences you can play.
DLCs are also a must.
1- Mini Metro
One of the best examples of "less is more" applied to game design. Super intuitive and easy to learn, each level has a difficulty curve that grows slowly but never stops doing so. One of my go-to games in mobile.
Feeling like I want to be more active here than in the evil twin. Let's start with this kind of stuff and see where it goes.
De cuando los mΓos solo eran dos bollitos de pan.
aaand also teaching videogame design in a master's degree. Didn't see the education label π€£

If you're games industry and following some folks already, reply with who you are and what you do, and then re-post this or whatever it's called. Let's try and find each other on this new place
Hello everyone! I'm Javi, I'm a game designer from Spain, currently working for Digital Legends (Activision) on Call of Duty Warzone Mobile.
It's really cool to see so many incredible devs around here! π

Maravilloso
