A bartender at some random izakaya in Tokyo recognized me as the guy who made JETRUNNER.
I'm pretty sure the odds of that are close to zero, so what the hell.

I have been in Japan for less than a week and I've already developed a para-social relationship with a convenience store brand.
Went to a pig cafe in Japan. Got my balls crushed.
Chocolate eggs lose a lot of their authenticity by having no shell to peel.
The #AGDQ2026 run of JETRUNNER was nuts. I can't believe how consistent @xyphles.bsky.social is. What a monster.
Doing dev commentary on a GDQ run was on my bucket list. I loved every second of it.

I've never really jived that well with build-slop, but for some reason the Octopath series just does it for me.
I think it's something about the boost system that just makes it super easy to see a path towards a broken build that beats any fight in four turns, and breaking games is just fun.
Just beat Ghost Trick. Very fun to play some proper reveal-slop again. It really scratches that Ace Attorney itch.
Would recommend.
It's almost time for #AGDQ2026 and I know which run I'm looking forward to the most.
Being asked to do dev commentary is such an honor. I watch GDQ every year. Getting to be part of the show is a dream come true.

I still remember in middle school, having an idea for a stamina system that's identical to what would become RDR2's core system. I was so convinced it was the coolest idea ever, and it would be so much better than a normal stamina bar.
Then I played RDR2 and I absolutely hated it.
Growing up is learning that so many game design decisions that made me go "Smh, I can do better" when I was young, were done the way it was done for very good reasons, and that most of the improvements kid me thought he had would have been very bad. Very bad indeed.
Get rage baited
My choir had a concert on Saturday and I'm just so freaking proud of our performance of Go the Distance from Hercules.
(Yes that is me there in the middle, being very loud, making it near impossible to hear any of the five other second tenors. Whoops!)

Almost shit my pants reading the games list for the next Games Done Quick. That's my boy! That's my JETRUNNER!
Xyphles (Who is running the game) is an awesome speedrunner as well. I'm so excited for this.

Shoutout to Silksong for scaring off every other game that was going to release this week, letting us hangout on the front page of Steam's Popular Upcoming all week.
I take back everything I said.

Jump on button release is annoying. Having the game start with Jump on press and then change to Jump on release when you unlock a new ability, forcing me to relearn muscle memory, is a war crime.
The Knightling has so much going for it. So many fun mechanics, so much whimsy and joy. It has most of the ingredients needed to be one of those rare games I just plain love.
It's also littered with very annoying design decisions that I'm trying my best to stomach, but it's really getting to me.
I finally found a font where the number 2 looks super sick and I'm so stoked.
What's your bigger "Monkey's Paw" moment? This is mine.
Never asking for a game to please release soon ever again.
Announcing your release date this close to launch is just plain rude.
Now that I've gotten every banana and fossile in Donkey Kong Bananza I'm finally qualified to review it.
Game's fun. Smashing thing is fun. I hope I never see these smahing mechanics ever again. Digging around looking for Bananas is just not as fun as searching for Moons in Odyssey.
Tomorrow is a big day. It's one month until launch, and the end of summer vaccation. In other words: Hell is about to break loose.
Time to finish the video game.
See you all on the 4. of September.
It feels really nice to be drawing again. It's a real shame I can only really make time for it when a game is in pre-production.
Finally my new drawing tablet arrived after Adobe rendered my old drawing laptop useless by removing DX11 support.
Time to start some pre-production on an unannounced title π
This is what they took from us
It was about time someone at the bigger publications VICEnd up and wrote about our game.
I'll be here all night.

Donkey Kong Bananza is sick, but you have to much power to allow any challange to have identity, and the world is too mallable to allow any moment to stand out.
That said I do enjoy punching the world.

I just had a terribly scary nightmare that we're launching JETRUNNER in just 6 week. Haha.
Oh we just announced that in our newest trailer, now did we?
Oh...
Oh no...
