If fantasy=violent wish fulfillment for you, then that's pretty much on you.

I feel like I'm taking too long on this so after all of that, he ends up officially adopting the kids, I actually cried when this happened, got real emotional, and starts a school.
Point is that was the ONE time we had combat in that 6 month campaign.
He ends up taking care of another, younger kid early in the campaign, another fledgling mage, and he helps guide the kids for a couple months. Then their home gets invaded by a paramilitary force. The older kid gets gunned down (he survives) and my character goes into a rage...
I had a character in Mage the Awakening. His whole backstory was his mentor essentially trained him from his mid teens to be a soldier to protect their society from supernatural threats. He was 38 when our campaign started. He ran an orphanage and has one 19y/o ward at this point...
Just as a final added thing. Escaflowne, Break Blade and Knights and Magic all have fantasy mecha and inspired how mechs behave. Witch Hat is my primary inspiration of how magic works, and Knights and Magic is my inspiration on how magic works scaled up to mecha proportions.
Also, HUGE honor to be added on someone's list. I honestly just want to make a fun system and this gave me a push to continue working on it. So thanks!
No problem! This makes me feel like I should post/share some more stuff to get more ideas from whoever sees it. It's been a hell lot of fun planning and balancing things out to be thematically and mechanically appropriate to what my vision is.
This is a great idea. One thing I want is to really emphasize the size difference in combat. I'll note this down...
It's a work in progress, but I like my ideas so far ๐
For example your average human would have a bonus to hit a huge target, but they would deal less damage. Conversely, a huge or bigger target would have the opposite, and the average sized human would need to do a dex challenge vs the attack to avoid it instead of an AC based defense
I'm trying to balance out a thing where size can potentially give you a resistance/vulnerabilty, and a bonus/penalty or advantage/disadvantage on saves/attacks based on the difference between you and your target
I also made a "piloting" skill that you add on top of your vehicle/mechs AC and/or Dex bonus.
I actually have something similar in the system I'm making. Some mechs have a semi-airtight cockpit, some just have something like a shield. So the sealed ones have a bonus on saves vs poison and other similar AoE effects on top of an AC bonus, while the shielded ones just have the AC bonus
For the last year I've been developing and playtesting a D10 system inspired by Knights and Magic, Escaflowne, Break Blade and Witch Hat Atelier. It's been a lot of fun, but I feel like I need a more streamlined system for how mechs and vehicles work.
The Larian news about how they use genAI was pretty disappointing... It sucked out all the hype I had for Divinity. Like really? You can't be bothered to spend half an hour looking at a nigh endless supply of fanart and fantasy artist portfolios? REALLY?!
Greg Baldwin, the guy who took over the role from Mako, famously refuses to sing Leaves from the Vine out of respect for Mako.
Okay, not to rag on how someone looks... Buuut you could face swap her photo in the thumbnail with Vance and it won't make a noticeable difference.
The most annoying argument they have is trans women are just men who want to win at something. What? So you're telling me you'd go through years of hormone therapy, recovery, and re-acclimation just to win at some sport? What?!
And on concept art too of all places. You know? Concept art! The art that informs the design aesthetic of an entire game!
Larian using genAI is so disappointing... It really sucked out all the hype from the Divinity announcement and all motivation I have to continue replaying BG3 and D:OS 1&2. Which is a shame because I just finished my recent Throne of Baal playthrough and wanted to go through 3 again.
Appreciate the link by the way, I'm saving it because I'm sure I'll need it.
These people need to play some Pictionary to jump start their brains
I'm not a doctor, but I feel like I know more about transition surgery (due to me having to do research to shut down the occasional transphobe) than this guy.
So his answer is essentially "it's about drugs, but also oil"? These people keep trying to hide behind some very shallow word play.
I had an argument with an acquaintance a few years ago about trans athletes. He went all, "well we're not experts on this are we?" So I did a cursory search, quickly found some studies from athletic associations and sent it to him. He just ignored it and said "we don't still know enough."
Now if only they'd believe peer reviewed scientific studies...
I can't wait for Ally to derail things with an amazingly timed nat 20
Fuuuck no! I'm not giving those bastards my totally awesome and potentially awkward story ideas to feed into their AI slop machines!
The Trump presidency honestly feels like a cliffnotes or a "Dictatorship for Idiots" type deal.
Gunn's Peacemaker at least. They did real well with that one.
