I knew Fetterman was a bum going back to when he was a Mayor and pulled a loaded shotgun on a brother who was minding his business on a jog.

I knew my family switching to hybrid cars would be a good investment in the long run, but I didn't think the long run would get here so soon.

Despite many of her colleagues being murdered or imprisoned by COINTELPRO, she continues to fight for equality for women, was an early supporter of AIDS activism, executive director of the Black Filmmaker Foundation and was a professor at SUNY New Paltz. There are many ways to get in good trouble.

In addition to being the HIGHEST RANKING MEMBER in the Young Lords, she was an editor to their bilingual newspaper, Pa'lante. Did I mention she also started the first Black Pacifica radio station, WPFW in DC? She later became a key member of the Black Panther Party after leaving the Young Lords.

Listen. "Machismo will never be f**ing revolutionary." Led by Ms. Oliver, the women's caucus issued demands to the Central Committee of the Young Lords for an end to sexual discrimination and the full inclusion of women into the leadership of the Lords. Women STILL were assigned gendered roles.

OK so because she was such an avowed and dedicated activist, she was selected to serve on the board of directors of the Young Lords. Welp that sexism started rollling right on out. It's one thing to have the title; another to have the authority.

This is a reminder you can be BLACK and Puerto Rican, BLACK and Dominican, BLACK and Brazilian (indeed most of my trafficked ancestors went to Brazil), BLACK and Mexican, BLACK and Cuban . . . just saying.

The Young Lords, founded by Jose "Cha-Cha" Jimenez, was mostly Puerto Rican community organization that fought for social justice, neighborhood empowerment, and Puerto Rican independence. They used direct action to fight for equality for Black/Latino people.
