the cool thing about homeschooling is i can do what i want. so we’re testing out a new thing: β€œread a book during the week, & watch the movie over the weekend, discuss the similarities & differences”
we’re starting with The Secret Garden.

me: does that kid look familiar?
j: sounds like someone from Bluey!
me: what about dancing…
j: ROBERT!? he was a kid!? 🀯

I am now realizing that Starfleet Academy had to start out silly and cringe so that we can be more affected by THE TRAUMA.

A quote about women's rights from Anne Nicol Gaylor, FFRF's founding president. To the left is an image of Gaylor, to the right is a bouquet of pansies.

A quote about women's rights from Anne Nicol Gaylor, FFRF's founding president. To the left is an image of Gaylor, to the right is a bouquet of pansies.

Anne Nicol Gaylor and Annie Laurie Gaylor founded FFRF in 1976 to combat the biggest threat to women's rights: organized religion.

50 years later, we hold the same mission -- for the rights of women and anyone else afflicted by religious overreach.

Happy #WomensHistoryMonth.

dude!!
you’re so right about how expensive it’s getting. a fucking nail trim was like a $10 add on at most, slowly it’s gone up to over $35 & they β€œonly Dremel” which was $15 back before covid. my dogs nails are so long, henry got his little dewclaws stuck together when he was cuddled up for a nap 😞

just took my dog in for BLOODWORK because he needs most of his teeth pulled, & that vet wanted a blood draw, but he was due for his annual visit & it was $369 (noice) & that doesn’t even include the 12m supply of flea/tick split b/t him & his bro which is likely more than that 😭 plus the dental cost

Phryne c. 1925
Carved marble
Ferdinand Vichi (1875-1945)

Phryne was a popular courtesan of Athens, Greece who lived sometime between 400-300 B.C.E. Remembered for her wit and beauty; she earned both a reputation and a small fortune. During several festivals fro Poseidon and one at Eleusis, she was known to strip naked and wade into the sea before a crowd of onlookers. When she was later accused of blasphemy, the orator Hyperides convinced the jury to acquit the beautiful Phryne by exposing her breast in court. The mistress of the famed sculptures Praxiteles, Phryne is also regarded as the model for the Aphrodite of Chidus.

btw - we left our christmas tree outside for them to play in when we were done with it πŸ˜‚ they really loved having something to climb in but now that it’s warming up we should probably dispose of it (aka add it to the burn pile)
