In a beautiful golden concert hall, a percussionist raises an improbably large wooden mallet high above his head; so high, in fact, that he is on tip toes. He is dressed in grey trousers and a black jacket suitable for a high-class orchestra, but not for the type of physical exertion he is currently engaged in. Thus, his clothes stretch over his physique. One can imagine than one second after this photograph was taken, the mallet struck the wooden box in front of the percussionist to give a shockingly loud BANG.

Chill in the fridge to allow the water to absorb into the mixture (makes it MUCH easier to roll). Roll out until the thickness of a pound coin. Chuck fruit/veg on top with seasonings. Fold over the pastry to cover the edges of the veg, and bake on medium-high until the pastry is golden brown.
Convinced we could end #FoodWaste if people just learned how to make pastry. Bake those scrappy veggies and fruit into a tart, folks! Delia's shortcrust recipe is what I use: 25g butter, 25g lard rubbed into 110g flour. Bring together with 2-3tbsp water until doughball cleans the bowl.
