It’s called Keeping Your Shit Together Thursday. It’s where you keep your shit together on a Thursday instead of crashing the fuck out and driving your car into the median.
My grandpa reached the pinnacle of assimilation: retiring early after being an executive at several failing companies and became a gentleman farmer in Vermont. Unfortunately I think that means I’m running.

Congress should authorize postal banking *and* allow USPS to ground lease its land to multifamily homebuilders (provided any project on a lot holding an operating post office includes a new, renovated post office on the ground floor).
Greg Davies: Great task, well done. Didn‘t eat a thing.

volume of grapes, equipment, storage for ageing all fairly expensive but plenty of small brands do great stuff. I recommend attending Raw Wine, Wine Flair - you end up trying a ton of cool small brands you won't see elsewhere
indie winemakers are often purchasing small parts of vineyards in different regions to make some really cool stuff- there's an explosion in semillon and carignan blends happening this year that's absolutely delicious and fairly new in CA
and then on the truly home brewing, oh there's plenty of! just doesn't produce a lot. Much easier to make fortified spirits from wine but a good homebrew natural wine is perfectly doable but will almost always be funky
there's also a craft wine movement in the west! Berkeley, Richmond, Lodi, Paso Robles, and a bunch of Sonoma producers are doing 'craft'... just a lot different distribution model - small batch and often with membership programs
The degree to which Trump is just riffing/winging it on the war is really something to behold. Just kinda..musing

Upmarket grocery is far more likely to be small regional chains but like Erewhon, Wegman’s, Gelson’s, Birite, Sendik’s all exist and of course there’s Whole Foods. But also? Costco has the burrata and ghee flavored popcorn I like. Cosmopolitan food is not exactly an issue here.
Really over people posting clips of foreign upmarket grocery stores saying the US couldn’t imagine - buddy I have news for you about the wonderful but expensive shit I buy
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
