Ziggy Kauls, the great basketball man, coach at Mounds View, mentor to generations of other coaches, died this morning.
He had been getting visits by many admirers in recent days.
I covered him as HS beat writer in St. Paul long ago. He was a hoops genius.

East Grand Forks wins Class 1A boys hockey title in overtime thriller Senior Jace Van Eps was the overtime hero, scoring on a sharp-angle shot along the goal line after capitalizing on a rebound chance.

Jace Van Eps will be known as “East Grand Forks hero for life" after he scored the overtime winner to help the Green Wave roll to its first Class 1A boys' state hockey championship since 2015.
