Why not now?
Why not now?
Unfortunately, the sculpture was destroyed by Jake Lang, who was charged with assaulting an officer with a bat during Jan 6.
Pardoned by Trump, he's now being charged with felony destruction of property.
Two veterans groups paid for the sculpture he destroyed.

Ice Sculpture on MN Capitol steps says: "Prosecute ICE"
A beautiful ice sculpture on the MN state capitol plaza.
A crystal clear ice sculpture with a crystal clear message for protecting our democracy and constitutional rights:
"Prosecute ICE"
ICE agents who violate laws & constitutional rights should be prosecuted as anyone else would be.
DHS has been "remade into a paramilitary force: heavily armed, lightly restrained, and increasingly insulated from meaningful oversightβ
ICE has transformed "into a domestic security apparatus operating in communities" that looks "like internal security services abroad.β tinyurl.com/SteadyStateSC
Dark Days for Democracy
Most Americans have no clue that the US could quickly become a police state.
ICEβs budget is bigger than most European armies.
βThe Dept of Homeland Security has, in effect, become a tool of a dictator, our Ministry of Interiorβ

My colleague seems to think we should focused on protecting ICE agents right now. Not our neighbors who are being terrorized by them in the streets? I'm sorry, I disagree.

Everybody Loses - Book jacket
Lured by the promise of easy money, major league owners & politicians alike embrace online sports betting while ignoring its devastating impacts.
Worth reading: EVERYBODY LOSES shows how sportsbooks destroy the integrity of sports, harm athletes, and drivecountless people to gambling addiction.
The wealth and economic clout of the Chamber of Commerce & these CEOs could get Trumpβs attention. If they care about their customers, employees, & the community, they will demand the President pull ICE out before they kill more people on the street, before they terrorize more of our neighbors.
The atmosphere for people of color is akin to that for Jewish residents of Berlin in the 1930s.
YET THE ONLY THING THESE CEOs WILL DO IS CALL FOR βFOCUSED COOPERATIONβ AMONG POLITICAL LEADERS?
SHAME!
The explicit racial targeting of non-white people is appalling. It violates everything that these businesses claim to stand for.
They detain even preschool children, demand people show papers to prove they are citizens, they attack and kill people on the streets. They are roaming our communities looking for people to arrest because their darker skin leads some ICE agents to believe they donβt belong here.
These CEOs say they βhave been working every day behind the scenesβ with the White House?
And they think this blather is a bold response?
ICE agents are acting with cruelty, ignoring constitutional rights β brutally abducting the customers and workers of these businesses.
The ICE cruelty doesn't end.
ICE abducted this 2 yr old & her dad, rejecting the family attorney's attempt to get her out of custody, back to her mother.
The Strib reports they sent her to Texas, despite a court order.
ICE says it is arresting the "worst of the worst"
Proud of Minnesota's resistance to cruelty. Proud to join with a few of my colleagues in with the Interfaith Service at Temple Israel today.
Bishop Mariann Budde brought a powerful message of hope as we stand together supporting our neighbors.
It's bitter cold today, but countless kind, warm-hearted Minnesotans joined the statewide Day of Prayer & Fasting to get ICE agents out.
Here's a group at one street corner in Roseville this morning. When ICE abducts innocent preschoolers, people are willing to resist their cruelty.
Like so many other ICE actions: This is simply cruel!
Abducting an innocent 5 yr old preschool child & rushing him off to Texas is just mean.
Is there no point at which Republicans in Congress will stand up to this cruelty? For our constitutional rights? bringmethenews.com/minnesota-ne...
Using our Somali neighbors who fled violence and oppression as pawns is immoral and disgusting, and puts their lives at risk.
When Trump stokes racism & hatred to incite people, we must speak out. Glad to stand with many colleagues, religious & community leaders to support our neighbors.
Proud to stand today, with Sen Zaynab Mohamed & Rep Ilhan Omar and many colleagues in solidarity against Trump's cruel, illegal attempt to end Temporary Protective Status for Somali Minnesotans.
Sports betting scandals & the public's fading trust, "points to an industry rotting from the inside β one that rewards corruption, punishes transparency & treats addiction as a business model."

Rep. Tom Emmer says this woman is from the "terrorist wing" of the Democratic Party, because she attended what he called a "Hate America" rally.
She loves America, Rep Emmer.
As do the other thousands at the White Bear Lk, MN No Kings rally. Beautiful weather, beautiful, patriotic people!

We need an assault weapons ban - but we also need more comprehensive gun violence prevention legislation, including licensing and registration. #mnleg
Ban assault weapons & large-capacity magazines - during the special session!
It might have saved lives at Annunciation if passed 2 yrs ago.
But, we also need broader gun violence laws. Here's my testimony on my comprehensive legislation:
youtu.be/ANswPpLzREw?...
Charlie Kirk murdered. Gun violence has no place in America.
Not in schools: Sandy Hook, Uvalde, Annunciation and.... Not in public life: Hortman, Hoffman, Giffords, Scalise, now Kirk.
Each one a tragedy. Each one unacceptable.
We can & must stop the gun violence epidemic.
Opposition from the GOP and some DFLers could result in failure to pass an assault weapons ban and other gun safety provisions. That is not a reason to avoid debating the issues and voting on them. Failure to do so is a betrayal of responsibility; Minnesotans deserve honesty and accountability. 3/3
I would welcome the opportunity to present these bills in front of a committee, to have proponents and opponents debate the ideas in them, then have the committee, and the full Legislature, vote for or against each provision. 2/3
It's time for political courage to stop this epidemic of gun violence. It's time for courts to end the distorted interpretation of the 2nd amendment. Founding Fathers didn't envision semi-automatic assault rifles or other modern arms. School kids lives matter.
Two more school children dead. Six others in critical condition. Each death is tragic. Each is unacceptable. The 286th mass shooting (4 or more victims) in the US this year.
Thoughts & prayers, yes. Mental Health services, yes. Also, yes, to real gun safety regulation. (1/2)
