also I'm sorry...the line about brutal firings. I waited maybe three to four months, daily, to see if the company was going to email me and tell me I had to move or lose my job. It was HELL. I was mentally not well!

As Alma notes, it was only months ago that four employees were illegally fired, Teen Vogue was shuttered, and employees, many who had done their work remotely for years, were forced to choose between moving to NYC with no assistance and no raise, to continue doing their work in office. I HATE CONDE!

and by the way, if you look at who Condé Nast is getting rid of in its constant downsizing (people of color, queer people, trans people), it’ll start to look a lot like “yesteryear” in that building

the real people trying to put the company’s old ways to bed are union organizers fighting to make it possible to do real journalism without fear of retaliation or censorship. where’s their interview? where’s their spotlight?

i’m not sure where the desire to deify Condé Nast comes from, especially in other journalists. Movies have been made about how exploitative the company is to work at!

today in NYT, an interview where the writers declared we are past the “brutal Condé Nast of yesteryear.” Of course, no acknowledgment of the illegal firings or targeted layoffs beyond an aside about Teen Vogue being “folded into” Vogue’s website
