do you think the other side is alienating people with think pieces about their turning point halftime show?
do you want to be right(eous) or do you want to organize to defeat the right? this is a lesson I had to learn! symbolic gestures could be somebodyβs entry point into a lifetime of political education
itβs true that halftime performances arenβt revolutionary, and that a popstar wonβt change material conditions, but the self-righteous rants towards the people who resonated with the symbolism and message of the halftime show wonβt either π«Άπ½

So much violence and horror to uphold the invisible lines across our lands. How can that make anyone feel safer?
There is no "immigration problem"
There is no migrant problem
There is no problem with illegals
There is no border crisis
Only a problem of the border and the machinery of death that upholds it.

Since so many people are fangirling over Carney's supposed "historic" speech in Davos, I want to offer an alternative reading.
This is not left cynicism, but a sober reading of imperial positioning in this moment.
1) Carney squarely positioned Canada as a middle power.

LNG Canada has known there was an issue with its flaring equipment for over a year. While locals raised concerns about noise, smoke and emissions, until now, they didnβt have answers. The Narwhal reviewed more than 2,000 pages of documents for this story: thenarwhal.ca/lng-canada-f... #bcpoli
βnostalgia is not a strategyβ ok, what do you call building bitumen pipelines and decade old lng projects then?
