In one hour of Insiders today where discussion was focused on war, rule-based order, and breaching international law, there was not a single mention of Israel’s genocide on Gaza.

Racism in parliament is no longer just the remit of One Nation and the fringe, it is built into the policies of both major parties, who continue to scapegoat and demonise minorities rather than actually address the problems people are facing.
Everyone deserves a safe workplace, but that is not the reality for women of colour in this Parliament, especially ones that stand up to them. Allowing racism to fester creates an environment that affects our wellbeing and our capacity to do our job.
The hypocrisy and double standards of this Labor government are on full display when they are quicker to silence those calling out racism than the racism itself.
Now, they aren’t even willing to support their own pathetic, whitewashed version.
Labor pretends to be affronted when we call out their inaction on racism, but happily vote down a motion to improve behaviour standards and safety in the senate.
Yesterday Labor voted against a motion to address racism and sexism in the Senate.
The kicker is they supported an almost identical motion first introduced by Senator Thorpe and I back in 2024. Labor watered it down significantly before supporting it, but no action was taken.
Ordinary people will once again become fodder in an imperial war. It’s disgraceful that PM Albanese was among the first to back this aggression from Israel and the US rather than condemn it.
Will they ever learn from history?
Another illegal, dangerous and senseless war has been launched by the same forces committing a genocide with others, including Australia, enthusiastically supporting it.
I hope Labor can see the improvements that the Greens amendments will make to the ATEC and work with us to address the challenges faced by higher education.
The public purpose of universities in research and education and their crucial role in developing knowledge and critical inquiry for the benefit of society must underpin this legislation. Higher education is not there just as a job factory churning out workers.
The ATEC must be able to do its work independently, frankly and fearlessly, without having to seek approval from the Minister at every stage. It should also have a full mandate on university funding, including student contributions, not only the half that deals with Commonwealth contributions.
Our proposed amendments to the ATEC bill ensure that it can be established as an independent body and equipped to genuinely guide a sector in crisis, otherwise it risks becoming just an administrative exercise.
There is nothing stopping Labor from establishing ATEC as an independent body and scrapping the JRG fee hikes and funding cuts at the same time, except themselves.
The Albanese Labor Government talks a big game on equity in education but sees no urgency in undoing the very policy that is robbing low-SES students from the chance to study what they love.
To establish the ATEC without any reference to job-ready graduates and repealing fee hikes is yet again kicking the can down the road, while students and young people suffer under the weight of massive fees and crushing debt.
Labor should have dumped Morrison’s job-ready graduates fee hikes the second they came into power four years ago, yet we have another higher education Bill and still no change. The scheme is a cruel, punitive mess that does nothing except punish students with higher and higher fees.
Here’s to building people-powered movements, winning more seats, and delivering the bold change our communities deserve 💚✊🏽
This win sends a clear message: people are ready for courage with hope. Ready for climate leadership. Ready for integrity in politics. Ready for representatives who will fight for them, not vested interests.

Voters chose bold politics — not timid tweaks around the edges, but real action on climate, cost-of-living, racism and global injustice. They backed a campaign rooted in the everyday concerns of renters, workers, families and young people who want a liveable planet and a gov that actually listens.
This is what happens when you have the courage to stand up unapologetically against the far-right and weak Labor governments.
This result is about community. It’s about neighbours talking to neighbours, volunteers knocking on doors, local voices refusing to be drowned out by the big parties and their big donors.
This is what’s possible when people come together around hope, fairness and radical change.

Australia needs to become a republic. A modern democracy should choose its own head of state.
We deserve to live in this country not as targets of hate or punching bags for the media and politicians, but with respect and dignity.
Though it has become crystal clear we will have to demand and claim these basic rights.
We are tired of being treated as pawns in their sick political games to win votes. If they don’t see us as worthy equals, we will not be giving them cover or opportunities for staged photos or feigned empathy.
Politicians will show up for photo opportunities at Ramadan events while refusing to call blatant anti-Muslim racism what it is.
That hypocrisy is dangerous and it is inexcusable.
