And with that CFP for #9 is open - deadline 30 April 2026
FROM THE ARCHIVE: 'Darkest Dreaming' closes David Sylvian's album Dead Bees on a Cake. Just Sylvian's voice, his processed guitar/keyboards, and a sample of Djivan Gasparyan's haunting duduk playing from the track 'Mother of Mine'. Beautiful.

I still remember how Future Crew's Second Reality blew my mind in the 90s. This demo was true magic in an age of the i386/486 PC with just a couple MB memory - now ported to Javascript to run in a browser window. What a time to be alive :)

I take Wikipedia for granted. Reading this Jimmy Wales interview reminded me in our Fantasyland age what a remarkable and important creation it is. True pillar of civilization. Runs on only $200 million a year. Requires our support. So I’m finally donating. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/10/18/m...

I just finished up a live coding stream! Watch me create a mini music sequencer with LittleJS in about an hour. It has a major scale piano roll, kick, high hat, and tempo slider. 🎹🥁😅👍 #gamedev #littlejs

If you like David Sylvian, Steve Jansen, Tim Bowness, Ryuichi Sakamoto or Thomas Dolby, I think you may enjoy the music of Quietly Epic as well. At least I do. Very much :) My recommendation for @bandcamp.com Bandcamp Friday!

I want to have that energy when I'm 68 😻https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAOHJqJMYDA
REMINDER: The latest article features David Sylvian's Steel Cathedrals which he called the 'first step in a new approach for me', opening up the music for guest musicians to respond. The approach was rewarded with beautiful work from Sakamoto, Fripp et al.

...strong encryption in a peer-to-peer network without a central corp-hub. But even that wouldn't help if I have trouble trusting people after what society was revealed to be during the pandemic & last years in general. I can see how intimacy, rare and difficult to obtain it is, becomes a currency.
...if the web and by extension VR (d)evolved to small diy-communities, and corporations were nothing but a utility to provide network connectivity like gas or electricity (much like the early days in the 90s) that might help, but I'm not sure I would even trust corp-as-utility unless we had...
Intimacy in the digital age is something I've been thinking about myself lately. I find it difficult/impossible to trust (not only people but also the systems and those running them) enough to allow for self-expression and intimacy, when every step is being watched, and this includes VR...
If you want to learn Blender, now is the time - can't get any cheaper than that :)

As for VR, maybe I can switch to PCVR with Steam/HTC and leave Meta for good. I don't know. I wrote this for my diary, but maybe it's worth sharing. Maybe someone out there has had similar thoughts, felt this loss of trust, and found ways to navigate this.
- the end :)
