I love the music I find there, but the "it ain't that broke and people are still paying, so don't change anything" vibe isn't great...
it's hot garbage, I recommend using the autoplay station in the queue on individual songs to find similar stuff you might enjoy.
I'm so deep in at this point that the algorithm just kinda feeds me. But I even prefer using rekordbox to browse my own stuff, the site has never really improved much 😭

Working toward something specific (potentially arbitrary) has worked wonders for me. Once the theme or rules have been set, you don't have to focus on what direction you're headed; just tap into what the palettes you've ended up in make you feel, and trust it. Let it guide you, and layer it.
I've found that constraints help me find new ways to use the tools I do have, or force me towards tools or ideas I haven't seen or avoided. They help me find my voice in my work; How did *I* solve the problem I created for myself (or found elsewhere)?
I too have gotten frustrated when using tools to manipulate something, to try to make it your own, rather than creating something "from scratch" with intention from the get go. It can feel really empty sometimes...
