Honoring Long COVID Awareness Day on March 13th (in partnership with @thedc3.bsky.social), Baddies Wear Masks is a raid train planned for Long COVID Awareness, protecting ourselves and our communities through masking and prevention and being the change we wish to see.

It's important to remember that self-care doesn't need to be aesthetic or impressive. Take a warm shower/bath, put on comfy clothes, listen to music you like, or just stop and do nothing for 5 minutes. These are all ways to show yourself love.

"I show love to myself by talking to myself kindly. I try not to speak negatively about myself, and when I do, I try to give myself enough grace to correct those thoughts."

"I usually do a deep clean as my form of self love. I find when my space becomes cluttered or dirty I tend to get more anxious and worked up and it’s always this huge relief once everything is out of the way."

"I use an app to help remind me to, and reward me for, doing tasks I sometimes struggle with allocating enough spoons to do like shower, shave, do my hair, etc"

"I often try to remind myself that a job done imperfectly is better than not getting done at all. Might seem silly cause its the same motions but when my brain won't let me brush my teeth with toothpaste I'll just wet my toothbrush and wet scrub it so it's something."

"I think the best I can do is give myself permission to be "useless" and "unproductive" for the day. I'm not obligated to Do Anything, I can sleep or social or whatever"

"I take care of myself by organising stuff. I love a good spreadsheet. They help me plan out future tasks, and make future-me’s life a bit easier."

"One way that I combat burnout and practice self-care as a content creator is that I always have an "Offline Just For Me Game" that I DO NOT stream. Its okay to play games offline just for ourselves. I think we often forget that we're allowed to have games that are just for us."

"Watching my favorite comfort show when I’m overstimulated, usually with a hot cup of tea and buried under a pile of soft blankets helps regulate me."

It's Valentine's Day!. This past week, rather than focusing on love for others, we've been trying to focus on Loving Ourselves and prioritising self-care. At the start of the week, we asked our community how THEY Love Themselves, and here's what some of them said 🧵:

Rest isn't optional, it's part of managing your access needs and conserving your energy over time. Loving yourself can mean pacing activities and taking breaks before symptoms escalate. Rest supports self-maintenance, participation and sustainability over time.

Boundaries are practical tools. Deciding ahead how much energy or time you can give someone or something can make saying no easier (though sometimes still not EASY), and can protect your capacity.

Disabled people are often encouraged to push past our own limits to meed non-disabled expectations. Take care of yourself by using your aids and accommodations when you need to, and adjusting plans as your symptoms fluctuate.

Celebrate all the small wins. Sometimes progress is tiny, and noticing it is a way of loving ourselves and keeping momentum without burning out. If doing something imperfectly means you get it done, do it imperfectly. Perfection is the enemy of success.

Pacing is hard, especially when you want to keep going with whatever you're doing. Try to decide on break points ahead of time, such as after a set amount of time, or after completing part of a specific task, instead of waiting until your own breaking point.
