Yeah it happens but I wouldn't say it was common. I know one friend who's had the yellow light of death and zero who have had any issues with their 2s.

I have seen broken PS2s and seen errors occur when going to conventions or shopping the used market. It always comes to care and condition.

Both my slim and fat still play discs fine. No errors, same with the PS1 and PS3.

As much as you hate Sony if you take care of their products, they last forever.

Mine sits on my shelf until I head to work, then it's once again in my pocket.
