โHow did we get here? I can tell you how I think we got here. Big news publications have become just as dependent on algorithms to find their readers as their readers are to find the news - which means theyโre more concerned with being enticing than being honest, which is a damn shame.โ

โIn case you havenโt noticed, people are trying to bullshit us all the time now, and algorithmic feeds make this worse. They donโt just exist on YouTube and social media. They exist in popular news aggregator apps, and thatโs meant a lot of really stupid articles keep floating aroundโฆโ
โAlgorithmic complacency, if not noticed and acted upon, means youโre allowing other people - who are not you - to decide what matters to youโฆ Itโs very easy for people who wish to weaponize this reality to craft a narrative, which is not overtly obvious and so might slip past your defenses.โ
โSocial media algorithms donโt nurture human connection. They exploit it, and we are so used to this reality now, that Iโm not sure many of us care to get off this train. But I think we should.โ
