Working as a contractor in schools is so difficult. With recent Iowa legislation, I have to be careful how outspoken I am in local spaces, or I could easily lose my contract. I just have to hope my trans students find me somewhere on the internet and know I love and support them, and show it quietly
Did not expect “all the conservative white Christian on the TL praising Kendrick’s performance” to be on the Super Bowl bingo card. Did they understand the message? Big no. But they apparently can get on board if he’s “standing up for the children” lol
I coach High School Speech, and I feel like right now is such an important time to teach students to critically analyze communication, use their voices, and have confidence in their identity. My kiddos SLAYYYEEDDD today at their tournament, and they’re great weirdos to boot!
I do! Especially when a new place is mentioned. I picture full-length movies in my head while reading, and understanding context of place is important for that, especially if characters are traveling!

By like 25% in, I was thinking, "This is fine, but just fine," and BOY WAS I WRONG. This book is so much more than fine, even in under 250 pages. What really got me was the undercurrent of subtle femme rage. I got to grow to love these characters and then experience that rage for myself, seeing these women struggle against a system that does not care for them, or what they could be. The connection between rage and grief and fear was visceral and I loved it. @ALLIESANNOTATION
