Ahaha I haven't heard of that paper since grad school but I immediately knew what you are talking about.
But see they even use |> as a pipe which is R 4+ native pipe. Too much for coincidence!

Google released a blog post with something similar last year: cloud.google.com/blog/product...
People love piping! (Me included!)

Technically there's 12 weeks of unpaid leave mandated federally (for companies >= 50 employees) and California has up to 8 weeks of paid family leave (can take 12 weeks total leave for companies >= 5).
Obviously not even in the same ballpark to other countries but it is not 0 everywhere.
Don't forget the variation where the database entry has been copy pasted from somewhere then gets a special white space. Looking at you, Confluence... π€
Love the second image. Literally every "great" dataset ever. π
Monty Python understood p-hacking
I took this course and think the book is pretty good for an intro! Also the author is here! @stevenstrogatz.com
On top of all this, last I checked, CRAN didn't even store binary Linux packages (??!) which requires Posit Package Manager and some extra setup. Python's ecosystem (PyPI + uv) on the contrary works a lot smoother.
For internal codebases I agree - it's kind of nice to minimize API changes and run reverse dependency checks.
But for majority of other uses, the CRAN's rules (last I check doesn't even enforce linting/testing) seems like a solution to a problem needing proper package/R binary management (e.g. uv).
Last time I did it my letter was rejected because it was not "signed, dated and was not on an official letterhead". I uploaded it to an automated system from my own account... so I ended up using my company's official Word template and scribbled my signature lol. These places are in another timeline
Reply them with your hourly consulting fee. π
I hope he doesn't get demoted to Red Bull.
Same here! I just learned recently of some Linux distros with pre-installed nVidia drivers. I will try Nobara soon: nobaraproject.org on a separate hard drive.
I don't play many games nowadays so if it can run World of Warcraft, I am good to go!
Looks like Linux is becoming to-go OS even for gaming: arstechnica.com/gaming/2025/...
There's a function in R in a fairly popular package with a cyclomatic complexity of 1989. π
Virtually every data science job description involves Python, whereas not so many R. Maybe that's big part of it.
Thanks, ChatGPT! π
"AI uses neural nets which is what our brains also do"
I mean... the two things are named the same. Doesn't mean they are the same.
Yeah. They could call it... Safari. π
Is he installing it in... a system Python environment? π¬
That code screams ChatGPT π
So THAT'S what they meant when they said "PhD-level AI".
After a glass of this brandy, you'll only ever remember your very last thought!
You broke it lol
Insightful!
(Sorry, had to. π
)
Gotta get those clicks! π
Literally could've said I use such and such browser for this cool feature.
I mean it already feels like that on Facebook and LinkedIn... π€·
The main example for multilevel models is actually very similar to your example , I think it's about coffee shops!
