It's been a while since I posted here, but I'm just thinking about my December bookclub options. I would like a festive selection, but preferably low on the schmaltz and romance! Anyone got any recs less than 300 pages? Bonus points for horror or weirdness!

I found this first edition of The Silmarillion for £1 yesterday. They were printed in high numbers apparently, so not particularly rare, but still cool. I love the front cover and fold out map 😍

Every week I paint a bookmark inspired by a book I've read that week. Last week was the turn of The Less Year by CK Oldfield. An excellent, bleak post-apocalyptic survival story, I would recommend it!

So I bought a reading journal at the beginning of the year with space for 60 books. I thought I might need two journals for 2025. I have read 18 books so far 🫠 This is unprecedented and not normal for me! Although I'm beginning to think I have under-estimated how many journals I will need 😂
The thing is, I knew he wouldn't like it. I just didn't know he was planning on reading it until he told me he didn't like it 😭
