I love designing and making these 3D printed organizers. Low effort, huge reward. Am I weird?

preFlight logo. Similar to the Slic3r logo but with light blue and orange color and a rocket crossing it.
Showcase of the Athena perimeter generator compared to Arachne. The perimeters are better filled and more regular.
Table comparing Brick Layers with interlocking perimeters. The mechanism of this new slicer is based on X/Y variations and over-extrusion to compress plastic between the voids while. Brick Layers is based on Z variation. It claims 5 to 15% strength increase.
preFlight is a new open source slicer based on #PrusaSlicer but with deep rework of its internals.
- Truely 64bit
- GCode processing in memory
- Athena algo improving over Arachne
- Interlocking perimeters similar to brick layers
- Deeper #RRF integration

I think that's a good approach, better independence and maybe closer to the clients.

MyMiniFactory has acquired Thingiverse
STL files for 3D designers and makers, share free and paid guaranteed 3D printable models. Download high-quality 3D print files for tabletop gaming, toys, gadgets and more for your 3D printers.
MyMiniFactory has acquired @thingiverse.bsky.social . Hopefully that makes it independent from a 3D printer brand (it was an UltiMaker product). I hope they will now add CERN-OHL V2 license, the only license that support 3D printed functional hardware.

The Most Popular Open Source Hardware Licenses (2016-2025)
I put things here so they are on the internet
Oh yeah, and we have been many to ask Printables. I personally also asked Thingiverse and Cult3D and none have added this license. And this is now the most used hardware license from OSHWA certified projects: michaelweinberg.org/blog/2025/10... (section "Hardware Licenses")

They are also hiding the "Meets open definition" for the OCL, lovely isn't it?

Yep exactly my point, I don't care about their products and vision, but misleading all the time confuses people and damage the open source community. I am tired to have to redesign from scratch every supposedly open source designs I download because the source is missing. This is useless.

Oh yeah, it was obvious this would come. Also we have been many to ask them to add CERN OHL V2 license, which is the only one compatible and designed for functional hardware. APrusa has always refused. I also asked twice Thingiverse and once Cults. Still nobody get it ๐คฆ . โคต๏ธ

They know very well what they are doing. I don't care about Prusa, I care about the damage this is making to the open source community. Everytime I download a file from someone else that is supposedly open source I have to redo it from scratch because the source is missing...

Screenshot of a Github issue comment saying:
I noticed on Printables that the license does not show the "Meets Open Definition" summary detail like almost every other license, presumably since it would be silly to show "โ | Meets Open Definition" when selecting a license with "Open" in the name.
Really they are playing all possible silly games ๐

I wish I could stop writing those posts seriously. But apparently we still have 90% of the media that continue to copy their words without a quick search on the topic.
Oh BTW, the CAD files are just like STEP files, nothing more and certainly not a source.

Screenshot of a promotional email from printables.com that mention that the Core One is open source with to OCL license.
Later in the email they once again write in large bold font "Open-sourcing CORE One/L CAD Files".
And Prusa continues, so disrespectful ๐คฎ. Flagged by so many people for their wrongdoing, yet they persist in trying to redefine open source for marketing purposes. Champions of open-source-washing!

Guess who is once again displaying their ability to hyperfocus on being a hater?
It's me, I spent all evening writing my own compilation of all the reasons I think AI sucks so I can post it under genAI-made FB posts.
Work-in-progress, suggestions welcome!
